End of Steemit?

Is this the end for steemit?

There was once a popular clamour in the early days steemit to change the rewards algorithm. Majority wanted an incentive system that is entirely based on reputations and not on curation because it presented biases among the new comers we called minnows. Minnow votes didnt matter.

Dan Larimer, our former CTO and creator of steemit welcomed the idea but claimed that reputation cannot be owned and is entirely based on perception. How you percieve me is entirely different from how other persons would percieve me, thus presents a big challenge to developers. Its near impossible to create an algorithm for reputation based incentive system.

That is a challenge that Publiq team wants to solve.

Just recently, Decent network unveiled Publiq to everyone.

https://decent.ch/en/decent-network-introduces-publiq/

Publiq, is the first ever 3rd party content distribution platform built on top of decent blockchain.

The PUBLIQ blockchain infrastructure will allow content creators and readers to build a trusted relationship. Once posted, the content is cryptographically sealed, distributed, immutable, and timestamped. The different events attached to the lifecycle of the content: views, likes, shares and transactions are also recorded into the blockchain to become traceable, and executable through the use of smart contracts.

It aims to disrupt the way we transact and address inequalities in our societies

Is this the rise of a new Steemit competitor?

While it may sound to be a steemit competitor, PUBLIQ as explained by @jvper is clearly not seeking to be a social media platform and instead aims to be focused on being a press model platform where good reliable writers can distinguish themselves.

https://steemit.com/steemit/@jvper/publiq-a-steemit-competitor

This would mean lesser interaction on Publiq as compared to steemit which is more inclined to be a social media platform. Which means they are two different things.
So I think there's nothing to worry about.

Steemit is now on BETA and Publiq has to come up with its proof of concept yet. Its still a long run from here.

What you guys think?

For better appreciation, here is Publiq's whitepaper, a must read for artists, writers, journalists and publishers.

The problematic will be the tx/s. It can be something easy to implement with PoS, but I am not sure if when the network has millions staking and at the same time broadcasting, if it will be efficient.

Let's see. But in regards to the end of Steem, very unlikely! Since the development of new technologies usually only strengths the original ones.

It will run on decent so i guess it will rely on how decent will succeed.

Just read it a bit more... This is really disconcerting blockchain! Never going to be efficient!!! Just read the instructions for the client that does posting on DECENT... CRAZY!

The ‘Publish’ tab is used for uploading content to DECENT Network. To successfully upload content, type its title into the first box and a description into the second one. Then you can determine the content’s price (in DCT) and set its lifetime duration (how long you want the content to be available in the Network) and select seeders.

When publishing, there is a 10GB limit set for the file size. Due to the encryption, the upload of a larger file would be time-consuming. Title of a published media should be unique for the whole network.

10GB!!! WHAT!!! Seriously??? Who is going to support/pay for that data?? Plus, how long can it take if everyone decides to upload that much??? Something does not make sense here... unless this is targeted to big farms like Google or Facebook, I am not seeing this making into the market for real.

Decent Network just launched. We will see it soon... thats a valid argument... like if everyone is going to upload a 10gig file, that will surely wont be sustainable.

Yes, but still my opinion. Usually, limits are set because, in the open world, it's a way of attack... =) this is why I say that.

Steemit seems quiet these days, and I feel like my followers are not posting that much anymore.

Thanks for sharing, I will check out that new platform.

@diabolika i think its a normal.reactoon when payouts are low. Minimal interaction.

I understand. I didn't know what happened in the past months here as I wasn't part of steemit yet. But good to know. Thanks!

Youll get used to it... life in cryptospace

Hahaha ok I'll get used to it lol. Do you think I should stop posting a lot? And just waiting when the payout is better?

Id recommend you post more in times like this because steem value will surely rise eventually. Its kinda hard to earn when pay outs are high, hou only get few sbd and steem.

Yeah that's what I thought. And it's also nice to post and earn organic followers atm. Thanks for answering the noob's questions lol. @tjpezlo

yep agree too, and I believe this has to do with the time of the year too... summer on the northern hemisphere! Where I believe is most of Steem users. Actually, does anyone know distribution estimate of Steemit users?

@elyaque would surely know the answer for that

Hello please kindly like my post too thanks
