Why does potential reward payout go down?

in #steemit9 years ago

I've noticed that the "Potential Payout" for my posts seems to be going down over time. There haven't been any new upvotes and no one flagged it or anything like that, but the reward payout is going down a few cents or so every day. I'm guessing that has something to do with the price of Steem and pegging SBD to USD but not really sure how that works.

Please reply if you can help explain it to me or if you have the same question yourself!

Price of steem changes the value but the daily steem pool also affects the reward. It is more complicated but Im not the guy that cam help with that.

The price and also some other factors can change the estimated value of your posts.

I think the price shown is based on a 3.5 day average of the price.
Also though other voters and the number of votes given in a day can also change the payout of posts.

Thanks @whatsup - do you know if there's a technical explanation of exactly how this all works and is calculated somewhere? Even though I probably wouldn't understand it I'd be interested in seeing it.

I am not sure if it is in the new white paper? Until the whitepaper was updated we didn't have any accurate technical information.
