Steemit is being censored on Reddit!

in #steemit6 years ago

Today a user on /r/cryptocurrency pointed out that the Reddit admins are stopping any Steemit links from being posted to Reddit without being manually approved by the Moderators.

PSA: Steemit Links are Censored on Reddit - Use Busy.org links instead! from r/CryptoCurrency

The quote is:

All steemit.com links on ANY subreddit are being automatically hidden. Moderators must manually approve the link before it will be shown. I have tested it for myself and the explanation in the post is correct.

Right now however you can still use busy.org links. If you're sharing anything on Reddit, simply replace the 'steemit.com' part of the url with 'busy.org' and it will work fine.

Is Reddit trying to artifically drop the popularity of Steemit, or is this just in response to spam posts being spammed on Reddit for votes?

What do you think? How will this affect Steemit?

Did they give their reasoning? At initial glance, it seems like they don’t want the competition. I’m intrigued now! Time for some research 🤔

It is not about competition. It is because a large number of steemit links are in fact spam. Also, some steemit users cheated to get their post on r/cryptocurrency which the mods didn't like very well. Reddit has an AI that bans posts that are perceived as spam.
