The first edition of the Steemit Art Challenge has been a success !
Being the first one, the theme for the contest was Steemit.

Thank you for your support and your eyes! We need more people like you here! Thanks and please let others know as well. We artists get kicked about a bit out there in the "real world" and it would be nice to be a part of a community that could engage with us in a better way. We don't need the @dollarvigilante sized payouts all the time, but it would be nice to get something going like that every now and then. That would be something that will bring more artists and keep the artists we have.

We must keep this up and support each others efforts. Competitions for art can serve a purpose, but what we are really trying to do here is raise everyone's boat and get everyone an audience.
Let's see what other things we can do to get the eyes of the big-timers and make them patrons of the arts like @blocktrades was for us this time. If it were not for the user @blocktrades this event could have been much much less of a success.
Thanks to @anca3drandom for taking the initiative to put this all together! Can we get a round of applause?! Her posts supporting this event didn't get very much by way of support from the community which makes us all think the community doesn't support us as well. We need better outreach somehow.
Anyway, thanks to everyone and don't give up! This site shouldn't be about trying to make the most money, but instead about building a great community and use experience! Follow your heart and you will always be a winner!!

That's a bit of a suprise! I wasn't expecting to place, competition very high. @nekromarinist is wonderful, and deserves this and a lot more recongnition too.
Pixielolz did a fantastic job, what an adorable and magical piece. I could get lost in those eyes.

I didn't realize there was a theme. Was it mentioned in the original or edited post and I just missed it? Hahaha, I should've stayed up longer to explain my drawing properly, it seems lol.
Still, this was pretty fun and cool! I'll be following to hopefully make sure I can find out about the next contest in time to not be rushed lol.

Yeah, there was just supposed to be the Steemit logo in there somewhere. Painting, drawing etc, but no digital work.

I truly enjoyed picking up a pencil and brush again. Too bad I saw the post way to late to make anything I would've liked to, but anyhow, very fun, very inspiring. 2 questions for you, when will the announcement on the next round be and how do I update my profile picture. I have no idea where that space ship came from.
