You have some great information on promoting independent reading for our kids. Any time we can get our kids engaged in reading it is a positive step. I think that modelling reading for our kids and finding ways to engage them about the books is so important. It helps to develop good comprehension skills. Understanding what they read is even more important than being able to decode the actual words.
