In modern society there are constantly new trends that influence young children and teenagers. Youngsters desire new toys, electronics, and other belongings that they may not really need but want for fun. Consumption and the desire to have new belongings can be worrying for parents because not all new things marketed to young people is good for them.

Everything is marketing

Marketing is always observed, it is as if it were part of our lives to meet with him every day, anywhere and in many other places that have marketing strategies to encourage buyers to spend their money on goods and services, need it or not. Nowadays, most companies try to maximize the potential of children and adolescents, as they are the easiest and to shape their convenience.
No product is released to the market by chance. Companies study consumer trends. When developing new products, companies conduct studies to determine what consumers are interested in, what they will purchase, and what will be successful. Studies determine which products represent the highest demand and what sections of the population marketing efforts should target. This helps to provide satisfaction to consumers.

It is easy to see how the most saturated market of products for sale is for young people and children. Many brands penetrate the culture of teenagers and children influencing trends like what they should wear and other fashion trends, technology use, and entertainment. Corporations constantly change their products, out-dating old products, so that consumers constantly want the updated version. Trends are constantly renewed or evolving into something new.

Consumerism Causes Conflicts For Parents

Corporations influence teenagers and children to desire products marketed to them. Some children will develop a compulsive attitude to want these new products, which cost money they may not have but their parents have. Some kids will begin demanding these products from their parents.

Because they don’t have a job or a financial means to purchase products, they expect their parents to meet their demands. Parents feel like they have to spend unnecessary amounts of money on products children don’t need but desire. Parents strive to make their children happy with material objects. Children will only be happy for a short time because there is a high turnover for new products. When a new product is released, parents will be harassed by their child to buy it to make them happy. Old products become boring, outdated, and obsolete.

Another issue is when parents can’t meet the demands of their children. When children come from families that are poor and parents can’t afford the latest trend, some children may become dishonest. Parents may have to deal with children stealing or using other illegal means to get what they want.

Parents refusing to buy products for their children can cause problems with their relationship. Young people can become angry, temperamental, and argumentative with their parents over desires for products their parents refuse to buy. Corporations influence kids to want unnecessary products and children can become problematic when parents refuse to get them.

A Lesson In Humility

Parents influence numerous problems to develop in children by encouraging desires for trendy items. By buying children the latest products, children grow up desiring new things all the time. They will compulsively need the newest clothes, cell phones, etc. Cell phones bank on this and launch new models so quickly that past models don’t have time to become obsolete and are still useful. Teenagers and adults will want to swap phones for the newest model. More money is wasted and corporations profit.

Teenagers and children develop compulsive desires for new products all the time. In the past, gifts were accepted with humility and sincere thanks. Culture has changed so that children receive so many material possessions they don’t feel as grateful for them. Parents give into their children’s desires so that they become spoiled.

It is important for parents to teach their children humility and to appreciate gifts. Parents work hard to earn money to provide for their family. Children don’t always need the latest trends. Those are a luxury for many. Parents need to ensure consumerism doesn’t negatively influence their children and respect them for the hard work they do to earn money to give them a good life. Consumerism can threaten the stability of a family environment. Parents need to work hard to protect their children from consumerism and it’s negative impacts.

This is very true. With the uprising of marketing, it seems like we are all approaching everything with the consumerism attitude. Everything is as if gotten as easy as pie and demands for newer things have been pressurizing the parents. With the expansion of social media, everything is just "wants", just to catch up with the latest trend.
