Science Experiment : How To Make Eggs Float In The Water

in #steemiteducation7 years ago (edited)

Hello all steemians i want to share a simple experiment to you. This is very easy to practice with kids to explore their knowledge. This experiment shows the influence of the gravity of water on the incoming objects into the water. With this experiment we can explain for example why ships can float on water, whereas the weight can reach thousands of tons.

Trial Purpose

To prove the event of drowning, floating and floating an object and what effect of salt mixed in water against the state of the object.

Theory

The law of Archimedes states as follows: An object drowned partially or entirely into a liquid will experience an upward force equal to the weight of the liquid it displaces. An object that is completely or partially submerged in a fluid will obtain an upward force equal to the weight of the transferred fluid. The magnitude of the upward force according to the Law of Archimedes is written in the equation:
FA = p.V.g

For this experiment, the things that need to be prepared are:

  1. Egg
  2. Glass
  3. Salt kitchen

The Procedures as follows:

  1. Pour water into a glass, then put the egg into the glass. Then it will be seen that the egg will sink completely.
  2. Remove the egg from the glass, then add a few tablespoons of salt and stir. Reinsert the egg and notice that the egg will now be floating.
  3. Put more salt into the glass, it will appear that the egg will be more floating again upward.

Data analysis

Sink
An object dipped in a liquid will sink if the weight of the object (W) is greater than the upward force (FA).
W> FA
pb Vb g> pf Vf g
pb> pf
When the egg is inserted in salt-filled water the egg will sink because of the mass. The egg type is larger than the density of the water type. Then the water is given 1-2 tablespoons of salt and stirred gradually, the eggs are still drowning because the egg mass is still larger than density of water.

Floating
An object dipped in a liquid will float if the weight of the object (W) is equal to the upward force (FA) or the object is in equilibrium :
W = FA
pb Vb g = pf Vf g
pb = pf
At the time the water is given 2 ½ tablespoons of salt and stirred slowly then the egg will be in a state of drift. This happens because the mass of the water type equals the mass of the egg type. Salt here serves to enlarge the mass of water types.

Floating

An object dipped in a liquid will float if the weight of the object (W) is less than the upward force (FA). W> FA pb Vb g> pf Vf g pb> pf At the time the water is given 3-4 tablespoons of salt and stirred slowly then the egg will float because the mass of the water type is greater than the mass of the egg type. This happens because the more salt is given the greater the density of the liquid or water.

Conclusion

a) The object is immersed because of the egg type mass> the density of the water type.
b) The object floats due to the mass of the type of egg = the density of the water type.
c) Floating objects because of the egg type mass <the water type.
d) Salt serves to enlarge the mass of the water type with so much more salt given the greater the mass of the water type.

Nicely explained and "laid" out!
