Top 8 Most Dangerous Animals In the World

in #steemitpinas6 years ago

While Jurassic movies give us an idea what might happen when dinosaurs still exist, it does not exactly scare us because they are extinct. Still, sharks and snakes rule most people's fears, and they are not the only ones scary enough to scare people off.

  1. The Golden Poison Dart Frog

These are the brightly colored frogs that mostly live in Northern South America. The deadliest species is the golden poison dart frog who lives in the rainforests of Colombia's Pacific Coast and has a poisonous enzyme called batrachotoxin which is dangerous enough to kill ten grown men.

What's surprising is that the poison is secreted under the frog's skin which means you will get poisoned just by touching it. Its venom is sometimes used by the Embera people wherein they put the poison on the tip of their arrows used for hunting. However, these frogs are already on the endangered species list because most of their species died when deforestation happened.

2.Box Jellyfish

These nearly invisible creatures are reported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to be very dangerous marine animal in the world. This transparent invertebrate is very hard to detect when in water but normally floats around the Indo-Pacific waters of Northern Australia. It's called box jellyfish because of its square-ish form having 15 tentacles on each corner that stretches to 10 feet. Its tentacles have stinging pores called as nematocysts and have dangerous enzymes that attack the heart, nervous system and skin cells.

The toxin is so deadly that sometimes it can kill a person before it reaches the shore. However, there is an antidote, but the real challenge is reaching the patient. If there was a chance that the patient drinks the antidote, he may still end up in a coma or will still experience pain afterward.

3.Puffer fish

Sometimes this cute creature is used as a Viber sticker, but the pufferfish is very deadly. It is the second most dangerous vertebrate animal next to the golden dart frog. The pufferfish contains neurotoxin known as tetrodotoxin found on the part of their body like liver, muscle tissue and kidneys.

It is more dangerous than Cyanide and will give the symptoms of dizziness, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, muscle paralysis, arrhythmia and numbing of tongue and lips. Yet no matter how dangerous they are, this fish is treated as a delicacy in Japan wherein only licensed chefs to prepare the dish called "fugu" using pufferfish meat. The pufferfish is commonly found in Japan, Philippines, and China.
