Investing in the bankroll | Passive investing on Steem-Roller.com and playing dice games

in #steemleo5 years ago (edited)

Real time stats as someone was actively playing on Steem-Roller.com

Steem-Roller.com is a dice game developed by @klye. He also runs a witness node. You may have also heard or played the following dice games that run on Steem:

I don't mind the occasional roll of the dice when it happens to roll in my favour! I've tried all the listed games here except for @steemslotgames, so my observations will be on all the other games. Remember, 'gamble' responsibly! I guess the same could be said about buying Steem...it's a gamble too. Never bet/buy more than you can afford to lose. Gambling is not investing, but I'll get into investing in the bankroll further down in my post.

Epic Dice

Epic Dice has a user friendly interface and I particularly like the 'dark mode' inspired theme. Quite simply, all you have to do is set a bet amount, slide your win probability and hit roll. The Steem Keychain dialog will pop up for authorising the transfer. Within a few seconds, the dice roll will appear in the bottom left hand corner and your winnings (if you were lucky!) would be sent to your wallet immediately. My only criticism is that the last dice roll doesn't persist on the webpage. You would have to check your wallet transfer history to confirm. There is also the option to bet with the EPC Steem Engine tokens. You also earn EPC each time you roll.

Krypto Gamers

@kryptogamers recently refreshed their interface and it looks pretty snazzy. As with @epicdice, the interface is simple to use and there's also the option to bet 0.01 STEEM to win the jackpot. You have to spin 7777 to get it though. Each dice roll calls up the Steem Keychain dialog and the last dice roll persists on the screen—something Epic Dice doesn't do. If you get bored of playing dice, @kryptogamers also has Blackjack and Video Poker.

Steem~Roller

Steem~Roller has quite a daunting interface to the new user, however it's the most powerful out of all other games. It's also the fastest because it doesn't rely on a transfer operation for each roll. Bear in mind that with @epicdice and @kryptogamers, you need enough RCs to perform the transfer for each roll. Steem~Roller also has a minimum bet of 0.00000001. It can achieve this because it's not reliant on the blockchain for each roll (where the minimum transfer is 0.001). The auto bet feature is where it gets really interesting. Once you get your head around the parameters (I suggest using min bets), you can roll multiple times per second.

Here's the current site stats (at time of screenshot):

Now, to the main point of the post! You can invest in the bankroll instead of playing dice. Last night, I saw a post by @exyle about dlease.io and how it's a passive Steem investment (it inspired this post). Here's how it works...as I understand it anyway:

  1. You deposit Steem to @steem-rollerd (with username in memo)
  2. Go into the invest tab and enter the amount you want to invest (or click all for all)
  3. Set the investment leverage slider to the maximum risk you are willing to take:

If you slide it to xx%, it means xx% of your invested amount can be lost if a player wins on a dice roll

If they lose, then you get a percentage of return back

Your investments will update in real-time when there are people actively playing the game. I have invested a little into the bankroll and will check on it from time to time. What @klye needs now is more players :)

Disclaimer: Investing with high leverage is risky!
