Specifically regarding video/bandwidth, I must concur with you, as my current internet connection is extremely limited, and I am realistically unable to watch video.
The text option may well solve this problem for folks whose ability to stream video is compromised.

I am sure there will be a text option in the future. @coruscate tends to at least include text summaries of everything she videos. And it's the kind of thing I see them doing. I usually do that when I make tutorial videos. Probably they'll at least have some kind of brief "how-to" for each thing. But it's a great idea.
