Conclusion:
It was the Ramos administration that pushed for the privatization of the country’s water system. To realize that, the first thing the Ramos government did was to enact R.A. No. 8041 on June 7, 1995 known as “The Water Crisis Act”.
The public was flooded with lies and propaganda that allegedly Metropolitan Manila suffered an acute water supply principally due to rampant pilferage; failure on the part of water filtration plant to meet the standard of providing clean and potable water; inefficient system of collection; ridden with graft and corruption due to illegal water connection; and on the whole, that MWSS was a losing government corporation.
The expert back then warns the government that in the long-run, it’s most disadvantageous to the Filipinos as a whole dahil ito ang magbabayad sa kung anu-anong fees. Ngayon heto na yong sinasabi ng mga eksperto. Di lang tayo magbabayad ng mahal na tubig, tayo ang pinakamahal ang tubig sa buonng Asia at ngayon pinagbabayad pa ng multa mula sa buwis ng mamamayan. Whoa!
Lugi ba talaga ang kompanya? Ang sagot ay hindi at kung makikita nga ngatin consistent and sales growth nila pero hindi ang net income. Ang tanong bakit? Base sa notes to the 2018 audited financial statements, makikita natin na ang utang na 37 billion, 20 billion ay foreign debts at masyadong mataas ang interest rate. Ikalawa masyadong mataas ang compensation ng mga directors nila a whopping 26.6 million. Ikatlo, ang sweldo ng mga opisyales nila ay nasa 169.34 million diba sobrang taas nyan.
Sa aking pansariling opinyon, dapat ibalik na sa gobyerno ng Pilipinas ang pagpapatakbo ng tubig natin.
