The first thing about discipleship is to believe in Jesus your lord. In believing, his word is paramount in your life. You trust every sense of his word as true, accurate, reliable and safe and will lead you to the right way.

When the word of God becomes the guide and the yard stick for your living, then one can say that you irrevocably believe in Jesus as your lord and saviour.
For a disciple of Jesus, Jesus and His words is the reason for his living. His life is tied to Jesus and His word. He is even ready to die for the sake of the master Jesus Christ.
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. - John 12:25 NIV.
Discipleship can cost us our lives for his name sake. That is why I say true discipleship means total surrender. You live only for Him alone. Without Him life is meaningless.
