Science at home! Fun homemade experiments for the little ones. Let's learn about Sound!

in #steempress5 years ago (edited)

Hello friends of @steemiteducation, happy to meet you, the experiments at home open a universe of knowledge and teaching possibilities for our children, sometimes we believe that to educate our children we need a highly prepared and somewhat complicated material, no! Today I want to show you a very simple homemade Experiment that shows that science does not have to be boring and that most of the experiments we can do with our children do not need complicated and elaborated materials, you will be fascinated by all the information and knowledge that you can transmit with this simple experiment.

Before starting with the fun it is necessary that we review certain concepts so that the youngest ones understand what is involved or what the experiment consists of.

What is the Sound?

The sound is a sensation that is generated in the ear from the vibrations of things. These vibrations are transmitted by air or other elastic means. (Source)[ https://definicion.de/sonido/ ]

Yes now! let's see what is needed to perform our experiment.

Materials:

  • A plastic cup
  • A nail
  • A wooden stick
  • Cotton thread or wool

Procedures:

  • The first thing we have to do is open a hole in the base of the glass with a nail. (I heated it a bit in the kitchen to make the procedure easier).

  • Next we introduce through the hole the hilolo knot with the wooden stick, as it appears in the photo.

  • Then we pull the thread with the thumbs and index (we wet them a little beforehand) so that we generate a sound, you can realize that the SOUND that transmits the glass is similar to that of a HEN, it will be very funny and the children will I love it

What happened?

When the thread is pulled, a vibration is transmitted to the base of the plastic cup. The vibration produces a sound that is amplified thanks to the plastic cup that acts as a sounding board. The thread has to be tight so that the vibrations propagate.

Children love to do experiments. With them, while having fun, they learnand ask questions about the world around them. Among its many benefits, scientific exploration feeds the child's natural curiosity, fosters his interest in science, stimulates reasoning and logic, improves his ability to solve problems, increases his self-esteem and prepares them to understand more complicated scientific concepts in the future. To enjoy science is not necessary to have a laboratory, you will be surprised by the amount of experiments that can be done with some home materials. So do not wait any longer, get to work and have fun with your children or students.I hope that this article has been of your interest and help, and I hope you in my next publication!Regards!!!
