2018 Netherlands 1oz Silver Proof Lion Dollar Bring History To Life

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

When i first Looked at The 2018 Netherlands 1oz Proof Royal Dutch Mint Lion Dollar i thought what was the Lion doing swimming, but looking into the the Netherlands Coins you can see great history and a new look to a classic Netherlands Coin.

Looking at the 1792 6 Stuiver Silver Coin and comparing it with 2018 Lion Dollar, you can see that they again have digitally remastered a classic silver coin.

Then compare it to the 2018 Lion Dollar you can see where this classic design came from, The Royal Dutch Mint are truly masters of taking old coinage and re-inventing it in a style second to none, i think The British Royal Mint could take a look at what these Dutch Masters are doing with mondern Coinage.

Those Dutch lions are amazing coins and this one is just as good. The royal mint could definitely take a leaf out of the Dutch mints book and at least make an effort

Off course Dutch coin is so beautiful and amazing. Thanks.

and so say all of us

I know the mint are losing there way

As this one deals with Zeeland (which floods every hundred years) the Lion indeed is swimming. Their banner/weapon not on the coin says: Luctor et emergo = I struggle but will come up again.

Thanks Goldrooster that is interesting, make you understand the coins heritage, peace

Heck yeah! That's a cool modern adaptation of the coin. I agree that it looks like the lion is swimming though. :)

can't be doing the doggy paddle? lol

Do you think they designed the coin that way on porpoise, or did they duck it up? I'm sorry, I'll stop kitten around. :D

lol foul response lol

If the Cat Council found out that he was doggy paddling, they might have a cow! LOL.

moo moo land

Great compliment, I agree with you. thanks.

doggy paddle?

it's a jokes, bro.

I know bro

Thanks Bro.

I love the lion coin and the original Dutch coin. I also love that you know enough about both to have spotted their similarities with over a 200 year minting difference. Thanks for sharing these both.

it makes you wonder where all all the good coin designers

This is a perfect rebirth of a beautiful coin. I wonder if they will use the vessel in another modern coin.

hope so love the ship
