Two weeks ago I did a post about ordering a silver starter kit from Money Metal Exchange. This post is to give a review of my experience and the silver I received.
Communication
I thought the communication was excellent. I received a confirmation email after placing my order which contained the instructions of how to send my personal check. They recommended making the check out to MMX and sending it to the same name. This is common for many of the exchanges and adds a little bit of security to your letter. It doesn't scream "There is payment inside for bullion".
A few days later I received another email confirming that the check was received and would take 5 days to clear before the silver would be shipped. Once the check cleared a 3rd email was sent saying it was ready to ship and provided the USPS tracking information. It was sent with signature confirmation required. This was not an issue for me as someone would be home, but could cause grief to some.
The Package
A few days later the package arrived, a plain labeled bubble wrap envelope.
Inside the package was a plastic folder of information and a bag with the coins. The information package contained a first time customer thank you letter, a silver/gold bullion order sheet, precious metals buying guide, info cards for the American Silver Eagle and Silver Maple Leaf and a coupon for a free silver eagle with a $2,500 purchase.
The bag with coins contained the coins in plastic sleeves, wrapped in bubble wrap, and tri-fold cards for the privately minted coins that contained certificate of authenticity, specifications and design information.
The coins all appear to be brilliant uncirculated as stated on the specification sheets. The American Silver Eagle and Silver Maple Leaf were 2014. My pictures do not do the coins any justice.
Final Thoughts
I was very pleased with the whole experience, especially since it was at spot price. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get silver at spot. However your experience may be different. Also be aware that it is shipped with signature confirmation which will require an adult to be present at delivery.
