I just made a sad discovery. There is a leech swimming around in the Silver Gold community here on Steemit, and its handle is:
cve3
First it goes around and makes comments that it hopes will get upvoted. Some seem genuine. Some, you can tell are just an excuse to comment.
Sometimes, it will upvote the original post...but at 1% or less. Equal to $0.005 or less.
Its winning touch though is when it goes back to its comments, at 6 days of age(before the upvote window closes) and upvotes itself at 100% upvote strength(about $0.35 at current market).
You can see here that 96% of its votes are going to itself:
You can click on comments under his blog to see how most to all of the 7 day old comments and older have been upvoted at 100%...by himself.
As far as I can tell, only a small fraction of his Steem Power may have actually been invested in steem. None, if that was just a transfer through blocktrades from an older Steemit account. Most of his current account Steem Power is from upvoting himself.
This is my personal request to cve3 to NEVER comment on any of my Posts again.
Everyone else can do with this information as they see fit. But I want nothing to do with it.
Any discussion, thoughts and even dissagreements are welcome in the comment below(even by cve3 ...THIS ONE TIME).

I agree with you. I was dissapointed by Barry before. But I just ignore him. I wouldnt have 'poked the bear'. Just ignore him. He isnt misbehaving on my posts, so it isnt as big a concern as cve3 is here.

I accidentally upvoted one of my posts once. Stupid thumbs! I also think that the flag button is in a terrible spot because I keep hitting that too! Fortunately steemit asked me to confirm the flag before registering it!
Nothing wrong with upvoting yourself as well as others in my opinion. Anything under 50% i’d say is highly respectable.
I don't see a problem with upvoting yourself, but there are some whales who think otherwise and will downvote all the little pennies you earn just to make themselves FEEL THE POWER, lol. I was only upvoting 1 post per day of my own, and upvoting the rest to everyone else, but they stripped my little $0.50 a day away from me for over a week.

I'm happy with 25% or less... But I know I have been as high as 40% before when I wanted/needed to promote some posts and comments.
Overall I seem to get the best feedback though when I am voting myself 25% or less.
But for a whale to be upset with one self upvote a day? Either there was a HUGE misunderstanding. Or that whale was a straight up Moby DICK!

I was the same way. I may not know what I am doing half the time, but I know in my heart I am a good person who doesn't want to harm anyone. At the same time, I know I can't please everyone. So just set a goal and start working toward it, making sure you don't overstep the bounds you set for yourself. Be real with people and you will learn as you go and be fine!

Yeah... Blew my mind. Sadly there are whales and dolphins and tiny minnows that all do the EXACT same thing by doing well orchestrated circle jerks. As long as everyone jerks each other then it is the same as upvoting yourself.... Just doesnt look as scammy.

Since my upvote at 100% is more than 0.10, then if I want to help the Post get visibility... I upvote the Post. If your upvote is 0.01 or less you likely won't be driving the post into Trending. ;-P
If I want to make sure the person sees that I support them, then I try to upvote a comment and reply to their comment with an encouraging word or such.

Yeah, it was while I was checking that halves auction (the post was now 7 days old) that I saw cve3's comment at the top at $0.32. That just didnt sit right once I saw he had given a tiny 0.005 or less upvote to the post itself.

The follow-me phishers are far more annoying and worth your time to name and shame and mass-flag, I feel. "What incredible insight! Please to be following me, I follow you too!" --they didn't read a single word, and they spam that same thing to 30 people per minute.
Someone can vote-wank themselves into oblivion for all I care. The system can't seriously make it worth their while. It's not like they're making a living off clicking on themselves strategically every day.
If they can, this system is a mess and deserves to fail.
