1974 Java Tiger Silver Coin

These are a couple of coins in my collection that i love, the 2000 Rupiah Indonesia Java tiger. This WWF Conservation coin came in both a proof and BU version. I believe the proof version was released by the Royal Mint and the BU version was minted at various other mints.

The proof version of the Java Tiger is sterling silver with a weight of 29.28 grams and a mintage of 18,000. On the face it says BANK INDONESIA and BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA which means Unity in Diversity.

The BU version is 50% silver and weighs 25.31 grams with a mintage of 43,000

There were other coins in this series such as the 5000 Rupiah Orangutang and the gold Komodo Dragon. The proof and BU versions of this coin did not come as a set but i think they look good together so i bought a cheap box and made my own pairing of the coins and as i was born in 1974 and that year was also the year of the tiger these coins have that little something extra, these may have been unintentionally the very first lunar coin.
