Pocket Silver Challenge - First Blood

Silver Coin fitting a clutch

They thought it couldn't be done, a silver coin taking a gearbox out and fitting a clutch. You heard that right, and you will witness it here with your own eyes! This is a world exclusive! A silver coin doesn't have opposable thumbs, they dont have any kind of thumb, or fingers or arms and no way to hold a spanner or lift a heavy object but lets face it, its silver and we all know there is nothing this magnificent metal cannot do, its always being undervalued but marvel here at its incredible tallents.

The day started like any ordinary day but.... there was a work related incident and First Blood was drawn!

While i was dealing with a customer i left the Rwanda Santa Maria silver coin on its own to make a start on the clutch replacement, it made very short work of taking the prop shaft off, i couldn't believe it manage to remove it so fast, no seriously thats exactly how it happened, i wish i had made a video instead of photos but it was majestic seeing the coin hard at work and using the ratchets.

We got the subframe bolts out and dropped the suspension a bit to get the box out, i will admit i had to help the little chap a little, the subframe bolts were fookin tight, it took both of us to crack them.

Pass me the 13mm spanner, aye hes being a good help.

We both got hold of the gearbox to lift it out, got to be said i took most of the weight, dont think the silver was up to heavy lifting, i had expected him to do a bit better and i had him hold one side while i took the weight on the other but he, well....

DISASTER!!! The little bastard lost his footing and fell over, crashing to the ground like a discraded chunk of common metal, he has injured his left side and has a visible injury, the little shit has called injury lawyers for you and reported "ive had a little accident" wheres theres blame theres a claim and all that. And if that wasn't bad enough i also got a call from NSPCS (National Society for the Provention of Cruelty to Silver) and they want to come see me for a "chat" Im absolutely gutted hes had a work related injury. As i looked down on him led sprawled out on the floor i have to admit i felt a proper prat, my lovely coin and my stupid ideas all intertwined in a moment of clarity that begged the question "what are you doing Russ? You dick"

But desaster struck again and i bashed my face and scratched all my glasses, here we both are having a right laugh and showing off our war wounds, but the clutch is out! Woohoo!

Anyway, didnt take long for the litttle fella to shake off the injury and call off his legal team and he got stuck back in and got the new clutch unpacked and fitted.

IMG_2826.JPG

We were both exhausted by the end of the day but it was a job well done, i feel proper guilty about the little guys work related injury, i should have been taking more care of him and bashing my glasses up is just what i deserve. Proper gutted i dropped him, i thought this little experiment would be easy but this is what can happen in the unforgiving pocket silver challenge arena

Yeah, ok, I guess grease can't really hurt .999 silver.

Nothing can hurt .999 silver, except banks but thats for others to moan about.

^this is true^

Cool post, but ouch nasty little ding!

It is a nasty little bump, im a touch gutted but i knew what i was letting myself in for, but its not even been a week!!

I love it man, this little coin has quite the day. I'm glad the legal crisis was averted and you can all still be friends.

Man that little guy put some work in! Got a little banged up but at least he called off the legal team.

War wounds are marks of glory!
