Trivium Girls Silver Round

This beautiful silver round was minted by Golden State Mint, which has been involved with precious metals for 40 years. The lovely Trivium Girls round is part of the Silver Shield series, of which my previously-posted Freedom Girl is also a part.

The symbolism behind the imagery on this silver round is explained on the website of the Golden State Mint by the following:

The Trivium has always been vital to the Silver Shield message as a way of using Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric to find not only truth, but the right path to follow. The Trivium Girls is the physical embodiment of this intangible concept.

Lady Grammar, on the left, listens to all and follows none as she searches for truth.

Lady Logic, in the middle, uses her mind to process this information that is to free her from the mental and physical shackles.

Lady Rhetoric, on the right, is totally free and heralds a new consciousness to the world free of fear and ignorance. [1]

The reverse (back) of the round features the Silver Shield symbol, superimposed by a flaming sword and flames near the rim, and is stamped "1 TROY OUNCE .999 PURE AG," where "AG" is the chemical symbol for Silver (from the Latin Argentum).

The edge of the round is reeded, for an attractive, finished look.

As is the case with many items in my collection, I wanted this particular design because of the feminine imagery and symbolism on it. It is certainly a beautiful item and I am thrilled with the Trivium Girls!

Oh I truly love that coin! It is so beautiful!

I really like the parable of the three girls who become the symbol. Let me know, why are two girls (logic and rhetoric) naked and half naked? and the lady grammar isn't naked? is there another explanation @thekittygirl ??

It was simply the artistic choice of the designer, that is all we know. I had wondered the same!

That is beautiful. Interesting symbolism. Did you know that the reason for introduced ridged and, as you say, reeded edges to coins was to stop people biting off and stealing the silver or gold? It was easier to identify a damaged coin. Can't remember who told me that. Lol

I love this coin, I wish it was easier to get here in Europe! I didn't know the story behind the three ladies, but now I know it, I want the chin even more!

I was able to find a copper version of the Freedom girl, but it just isn't the same!

A beautiful round! Chris makes some of the great designs in their rounds.... and always carries a message. Stack on, my dear friend, @thekittygirl!

Enjoyed depiction of the three girls, wonderfully photographed coin showing the intricate forms @thekittygirl

@thekittygirl,

That Trivium explanation was so interesting that it makes me want to buy one ... or at least go Google Trivium. :-)

This is one of my favourite rounds that I've seen thus far. Thanks for doing a feature on it. Can't wait to get one in my hands. ;)

One of the sexiest ever minted!
