Those prices seem so high but research costs must be higher huge as well
With luck more competition will drive down the prices And make them more affordable and available to many more people
No doubt the development costs are huge!
Must be a fine line between charging enough to make it a profitable investment for the developing company versus too much and being seen as profiteering
Not sure what the answer is, glad it's not my problem to solve
As Donald Trump said: "Nobody knew healthcare could be so complicated"...
As everyone else said: "Erm, we all knew"...
Cheers
I to am glad its not my problem to solve
BUt I do think there is a big problem withthe system and would be great of the right balance could be found

Almost 3 Billion to get a drug to the market these days. Gotta make that much just to break even.
The whole thing is nuts, research costs are also skyrocketing and its not because of researcher salaries...
Without a doubt its an expensive business, i remember reading somewhere a huge cost is Insurance and lawyers
A lot of the cost is running human clinical trials. At least it is for us. Holy shit does it cost a lot of money to do that. Makes matters worse when the data doesn't come back as stellar as things did in animal models...
Yep, $100s of millions for a single PhIII trial.
I think in general people are not aware just how complex the process is
I know I wasn't until I started working at a pharmaceutical. It's much more complicated and way way more expensive then I thought...
I read a lot about how cancer has been eliminated but since its a multi billion dollar industry the discovery is kept within wraps. I sincerely hope its not true. Lost many loved ones to cancer. Its painful to both the victim and us as relatives to the victim.
I highly doubt that is true so would take it with a pinch of salt.
Just the sheer number of people that would be involved in the testing, even at the very early stages, plus the requirements for registering and reporting trial data, would seem to me to make this incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to keep under wraps
But there is nothing like a good conspiracy theory to sell some news space...

No problem, thanks for the comment!
Lol, I like the end of the post. ;) Well, interesting information. It looks like they will be charging a ton of money for the treatment. So wild, but who knows how much it costs them to produce it. Thanks for the post. #theunmentionables
Thanks for the comment!
Indeed these treatments are expensive!
I have no clue how much they cost to produce. Another thing to note is that the pricing also takes into account the costs of other failures. As so few actually make it through development, those that do need to pay for the next generation of both successes and failures
Cheers
A significant step indeed. I dont think this is a small one though.
Thanks for the comment!
Certainly not a small step if you are a patient that can be treated!
But I think there will be bigger steps to come...
Cheers
