RE: Nature vs. Nurture: XXY and XYY chromosomes in men

in #steemstem5 years ago

Thanks for this well researched information!
I work as an EA, often working with kids that may have the problems described in the XYY Syndrome

Learning disabilities and delayed development of speech and language skills
behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties. ADHD, autism spectrum disorder

It's always good to have an understanding of where they may have come from and we're always trying to support or nurture them to help them grow to their greatest potential, whatever that may be.

I am glad you found this article useful. I agree that it is important to know where some difficulties come from because we can accept them more easily that way and understand that the child just needs a different approach and some extra help. The IQ levels and cognitive abilities of people with these syndromes are not that different from their friends and family members and those kids can achieve awesome things if they are encouraged and in a positive learning environment.
