something's been gnawing me for a few days and i was loathe to ask (so please don't feel pressed to answer at lightspeed lol)
Does sound travel faster in cold air ? I have a feeling the noise is louder at night lately, carries further. Something to do with molecular density or something maybe, i don't know.
Maybe not something on the field of specialty for a particle physicist but i wouldnt know anyone here who i could ask something like that ?

No it is the opposite: sound travels slower is cold air. In warm air, the air molecules move faster and are thus more easily excited. This hence provides a better medium for sound propagation.

faster in hot air ... sounds like the trending section somewhere ha haaa (lol heh) i see ... so it must be simply my idea because its at night and theres simply less sound to go around. I though maybe as everything shrinks in cold for some reason it would sit closer together but i forgot all about the resonance ...
