Whole Factory
Hi all steemian friends. Hope you guys are healthy. Well, this time I will post my experience on On the Job Training (OJT) at one of the leading palm oil processing factories in Asahan.
FFB criteria at the factory
Sorting FFB
At that time, January 2017. I and my friends doing industrial apprenticeship activities in the palm oil factory which is one of the Asian Agri branch located in the village of Batu Anam, Rahuning district, Asahan district, North Sumatra.
ASIAN AGRI GROUP
In this place, the main raw material is the Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) from the garden itself and from the community. The main products produced are Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Kernel.

Kernel
This factory has Kernel Crushing Plant (KCP) station to process the kernel into Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO), while by product is Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE).
Kernel Crushing Plant (KCP)
PKE is imported abroad, while CPO and CPKO sent to the headquarters to be in further quality before being marketed.

The thing that amazed me the most was Asian Agri as on of the national oil palm companies, continue to be committed in an attempt to preserve the environment. One of them is by building a Biogas Power Plant.
BIOGAS POWER PLANT

The process of formation of the gas for power generation, utilize liquid waste palm oil. Palm oil mill effluent (POME) which is processed into electrical energy.
Digester tank
Digester tank is where POME fermentation becomes BIOGAS.
Gas Engine
Gas Engine converts the energy contained in biogas into mechanical energy to drive generators that produce electricity. Usually the gas engine has an electric efficiency of 36-42%.
So, the waste generated from palm oil mill is in the form of solid waste and also in a form of liquid waste. The liquid waste can use as a renewable energy. So we can say that our factory is a zero waste factory.
We at Digester Tank
Each unit a Japanese technology capable of generating electrical energy for two megawatt. If we assume one home is using electric power around of PLTB is capable of enlightening two thousand homes.
Industrial internship experience at PT.SAUDARA SEJATI LUHUR factory is increasingly unforgettable by us because the employees and employees in this factory are very friendly and kind.
