After the initial launch post a few days, great feedback has been given by many Steemians. And this post is an update about what we've already implemented/changed.
Before we continue: if you're not sure what Steem Tank is, feel free to read the introduction post and/or this quick summary:
Steem Tank(@steemtank) is an initiative with the vision to incentivise, support, and reward developers & entrepreneurs, who are bringing value to the Steem ecosystem. Users followed by @steemtank are able to receive free votes for their contributions to Steem.
New Changes
steemtanktag isn't required anymore. Instead, only one of the following tags has to be present:steemtank, dev, steemdev, witness-category, witness, utopian-io, developmentNew accounts have been added to our exclusive list: @cryptoctopus, @steemanchor, @someguy123, @jga, @eonwarped, @neander-squirrel, @steem-plus, @wise-team.

In summary, the changes pretty much mean: if you're being followed by @steemtank (aka on the list), you're able to receive Steem Tank votes if you use the correct tags. However, they should only be used if the post fits into the specific category!
Next?
For now, the goal is to have a very light-weight system which rewards those who bring value to Steem. In the future, more administrative work and different vote-weights are planned, but until then, the community is small enough so that abuse can be prevented and the power of @steemtank only be used for good.
Also, if you're a developer working with/for Steem (or you know somebody), who is not yet part of Steem Tank, leave us a comment (This includes projects - for example in the case of @stoodkev, who is primarily posting under @steem-plus)

Firstly, thanks for including me on the list. It's very much appreciated.
One thing to mention is that by removing the 'steemtank' tag it means it will vote on any contribution I make on Utopian (whether that's development or not), to any project, not sure if that's what you want that seeing as it may or may not be related to Steem. Got the impression that you want to reward quality brought to the chain so just wanted to mention that potential and as I regularly contribute to Utopian on a few projects I don't want the VP to get wasted on contributions that don't meet your goal :)

The goal is not to reward only contributions per-se, but the contributors. Imagine something similar to patreon.
PS: The vote you received was due to me forgetting to check for top-level posts. Fixed now, but you can keep the vote.
When my nomination comment got a vote too, I guessed it was that.
In terms of an alternative, why did you drop the 'steemtank' tag? I quite like the idea of being able to view a feed of quality development contributions from selected authors? At a guess, it's to improve ease of access. In terms of rewarding contributors over contributions I guess the current system works, potentially you could combine utopian tags and only reward certain categories, but I guess value could be provided in any category. You could go the other way with a no vote tag, which would prevent the vote, but again from a UX experience that isn't perfect.
With all the above said, I guess it's not much of a worry at the moment with the current vision, just being wary of your SP if it was an issue :)

This is great! I'm just getting started working on projects for steem, but I've released a witness tool that I'm going to develop further into a wallet tool called pywit. Not too sure what I'm going to start next but I'll find inspiration somewhere.
