What is the Steem Torch Experiment?

You can read about it here but to quote @geekgirl's original post.

Steem Torch is an experiment to demonstrate the speed and trust in transferring value on Steem social network.

Steem Torch Keeper is a user who received a Steem transfer with "Steem Torch Experiment..." memo and is about to pass it to the next user.

Typically, the torch moves every couple days but when it does move it usually has a few quick movements through a community.

Lots of activity today

Today the torch moved through the @buildteam community and moved 10 times this morning. That may or may not sound like a lot, but since it started around 2 months ago it has only moved 105 times.

It is pretty common for the torch to move in spurts as it is passed between friends and communities. The target for the project is to move to 1,337 users and then donate the funds (currently 553 Steem) to a community or charity project.

Follow the torch in real time

Just follow the @steemtorch account and you can track the progress of the experiment in real time and see who passes the torch to who and how much is passed on. As of right now the torch has been passed 105 times and has a total of 553 Steem.
