El Chinche de la Malva arborea es una especie de insecto hexápodo que le encanta la savia de este arbusto originario de Europa y parte del Mediterráneo. Pertenece a la Familia Pyrrhocoridae, puede adaptarse a las zonas tropicales y algo templadas, pero mayores a 15 °C que limita el desarrollo de los jóvenes hemípteros.

Durante los 2 primeros meses de vida estos insectos tienen un hemametabolismo muy diferenciable durante sus estadios de larva y ninfa, antes de llegar a convertirse en un adulto, donde el dimorfismo sexual está remarcado por el tamaño del insecto, ya que todos los especímenes tienen sus manchas negras ubicadas de igual manera en la parte superior de su cuerpo. Para dimensionar este punto sobre el dimorfismo sexual, pueden observar la siguiente imagen y tal vez tengan suerte de señalar al macho del Chinche rojo Zapatero.

Tampoco es que sea muy exigente desde el punto de vista de la anatomía animal, por lo que se reconoce la hembra por su mayor tamaño respecto al macho. Ahora viene la parte más destacable de este Boletín, pues debo mencionar que aparte de alimentarse de la Malva arborea, su dieta abarca al colifrlor, brócoli, repollo y también aprovecha los cadáveres de otros animales que encuentra a su alrededor, convirtiéndolos en animales necrófagos

Históricamente es muy raro ver volar a estos insectos debido a los pequeños elitros modificados que cubren sus diminutas alas, pero la aparición de individuos macrópteros capaces de volar pueden permitir que la especie se extienda a regiones geográficas de forma mucho más eficaz en el futuro.

Now comes the most remarkable part of this Bulletin, because I should mention that apart from feeding on Malva arborea, its diet includes cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and also takes advantage of the corpses of other animals that it finds around it, turning them into necrophagous animals.
Historically it is very rare to see these insects flying due to the small modified elytra covering their tiny wings, but the emergence of macropteran individuals capable of flight may allow the species to spread to geographic regions much more effectively in the future.**
