Great article mate! Random question, are there any practical applications of getting even closer to absolute zero? Say 50% closer for example? Will that improve the technologies that rely these low temperatures because of a 50% relative difference or is the tiny absolute difference more important??

The topic of the post says we are close, just off by some degrees. We are one billionth of a degree Kelvin above absolute zero, which makes the percentage we are off very much less than 1%.
In quantum level, that small fraction makes all the difference.
