I see a flyer for Open Mic at 7pm to 10pm. Thinking, yeah those are real professional hours. Not out too late, minus well take advantage of the opportunity. When I showed up (at 630pm) there was a party prior that seemed to reserve the place for some time during dinner. Around 655pm the host and DJ show up. They explained to me the show could normally start just slightly later that expected. I was cool with that.

Decided to take some pictures to keep myself preoccupied.

Pretty flowers huh? Yeah I thought so too. Displayed on the left side of the entrance this was the first welcoming sign of the establishment. Must say it's a neat looking place inside and out. When you are looking for it, the sign "Halo" is all you can see hovering above the door. It's secluded on the Southwest corner of Sahara and Decatur. Once you walk in it slipts off into the bar and back section, which leads to the restroom. Bathrooms are still conveniently connected to the rest of the establishment.

At the right side of the bar you'll notice the dance floor. Beyond that has seating for eating. Even further from the dining area, I noticed a drum set. Almost like a set up for a band with live instruments to play. No smoking inside but with what they have going on it's a plus. Having a dance and dining area allowed them to have guests under 21 and even under 18 because it was smoke free.

All around 10/10 place in my book. Halo is an awesome hang out joint to kill some time or plan an event which bleed into the Open Mic performance time but provided much more guests than expected. Unfortunately I did not get to utilize this at all. Being it was my first time coming to this place assuming everything on the flyer was going to be correct so I planned two thing in the same evening. Although I waited to start and was THE FIRST ON THE LIST I did not perform. Not because the guest eating took too long.

But because the microphone was down and probably went back up after I had to leave to run my other aron 😒😫

Okay we got the crowd eating that reserved the place then the normal open mic crowd. When I was forced to leave because of stage malfunctions, time crunches, and other factors there were about 50 people there!!! My name was first on the list!! Ya know what I'll be showing back up. Never in my life would this senrio come across my mind.

Persistence is the key tho. If I hadn't planned two things in the same night there may have been a happier story. So my side of the responsibility is there. Next Friday will turn out better. Feel it in the mist.
