RE: The Fun Uncle

in #story5 days ago (edited)

I wish I could see it first-hand! The only fly in the ointment is my nephew will be going to an indoor golf center during the colder months. I can't imagine the havoc these would cause indoors so I have to be very careful how I implement this prank, my brother will be my accomplice. : )

Very cool! I remember these shops being everywhere when I was young but Spencers is the closest thing I can think of that are still in existence. There was a great novelty store in Chicago called "Uncle Fun" but it closed in 2014.

That makes a lot of sense that you would want to have your brother in on it so he can kind of stage it for you. I'm sure you can still find a lot of it online, but the physical locations were always quite special.

It was always fun to go into those stores. Sometimes the pop-up halloween shops will carry some of the prank/gag items but usually it's not much.

I remember the store I was talking about before was cool because it was in one of those old school arcades. Not like the video game arcades, but the ones that would run through a city block and had shops on each side of it as you went through the tunnel. I forgot to mention that yesterday. That's part of what made it unique.

Very cool! I remember those arcades. That was probably the precursor to modern shopping malls. I believe there's one in London that was built in the early 1800's.

Wow, that is impressive! There are still a fair number here and there in the US I think. I know of at least three off the top of my head, so I am guessing there are tons more.
