A phrase that I liked is

I think the man got what he deserved, I think that this type of person deserves this type of punishment, I don't know, maybe I'm retrograde.

Anyway, Jean de Calais, in spite of his beginnings in history, managed to change his way of being, and of course he suffered, but he was rewarded.
