Thank goodness for the princess, I don't know how Jean would have been able to make it out alive. Those devils were really so mean and Jean really suffered so much that he was even stoned against the wall and later minced and eaten with his bones.
I see a situation where there's a happy ending for him because the princess would become a full human and they would marry and live in that beautiful castle.
I hope it really does end like this.
