When the reed saw that the Black Valet raised his hatchet for the first blow, it changed into a great serpent with seven heads.

“Prince of the Seven Golden Cows, the reed is down."
"Cut some enough to make a flute, and let's go."
Entering the castle the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows said:
“Black Valet, every night, when the people of the castle are asleep, come to my room, I will teach you the tune that can only be played on the flute that you will make with this reed."
What was said was done. On the morning of Midsummer, the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows said:
“Black Valet, this evening, when all the people in the castle are asleep, take your flute, two large cauldrons, seven bags of good hemp cloth, and do not fail to find yourself, at midnight, on the banks of the Gers, in the meadow which is above my mill."
At the appointed time, both were in the meadow. When the stars marked midnight, the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows said:
“Black Valet, play the flute."
The Black Valet obeys. Immediately, Seven Golden Cows emerged from the ground. They came to greet their Prince and began to graze in the light of the moon.
“Black Valet, take one Golden Cow, me the other, and let’s milk them each in a cauldron. After that, it will be the others' turn."
An hour later, the two cauldrons were full of milk, which immediately changed into double louis d'or and quadruples of Spain. The Prince of the Seven Golden Cows filled two bags of good hemp cloth with them and drowned them in the Gers.
After the first two Golden Cows, it was the turn of the other five. Before sunrise, the Seven Golden Cows had gone underground, and five other bags of double louis d'or and quadruples of Spain were drowned in the Gers.
“Black Valet, you know where the seven bags are. I'll give them to you. Fish for them at your leisure, and ensure no one sees you. Now let's go back to the castle."
A month after Midsummer, the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows was underground. The Black Valet spared nothing for the burial nor for the high and low masses. This done, he left for the country where the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows had gone broke, by showering his friends with dinners and presents, and by giving great alms. An hour after the arrival of the Black Valet, the village drummer shouted everywhere:
“Ran plan plan, ran plan plan, ran plan plan. You are informed that the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows is dead. He was once again richer than ever. The Black Valet is his heir. To obey his master's command, the heir will count a thousand pistoles to each of the dead man's friends, and a hundred crowns to each poor person in the country. Tomorrow morning, everyone will be paid,”
The next morning, there were so many friends and poor people that it seemed like a big fair in the village.
“Poor Prince of the Seven Golden Cows! He has not forgotten us. For him, we would have gone through water and fire."
All this didn't last long. The Black Valet arrived at full gallop on his horse, an oak bar in his hand, with a pack of dogs, as tall and strong as bulls.
“Bold, my dogs! Css! css! Bite them! Here, drunk! Here, pig! Here, thief! Grab that, and put some salt on it. These are the legacies of the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows. Bang! bang!"
And the Black Jack struck with great force on the nobles, on the bourgeois, and on the poor. When all these dirty people were far away, the Black Jack left for the country where his master was buried. There he learned Latin and everything you need to know to be a monk. So he built a convent, where people prayed to God night and day for the soul of the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows.

In the restaurant where we celebrated the 90th anniversary of Kati's mother yesterday, there is a stuffed deer.
It is obvious that it is a male, right? ... Because of the antlers, of course!
Here is a picture of Ili Mama, Kati's mother, with her three daughters: Kati (Katakin), Ili (Ilona), and Gabi (Gabriells), at the dinner table.
We were twenty-six. Only one grandson and two grandchildren were missing. And I was not the only one who was not Hungarian; one nephew of Kati married a girl from Azerbaijan.
Ili Mama looks delighted looking at the three birthday cakes, including a vegan one.
Kati took this picture. When she sent it to me, she added "Smile!".
We had a great time and everybody was happy to be there. Agi and his two daughters came from Scotland, Gabor, the younger son of Kati, came from Canada, and several nieces and nephews came from Budapest.

As revealed in the previous chapter of this story, the Black Valet was actually doing the Prince Of The Seven Golden Cows a favour by stealing from him, so as to help him after he had extravagantly finished his wealth. The Black Valet's act of kindness to his master, The Prince Of The Seven Golden Cows was rewarded by showing him the source of his wealth and the Black Valet passed the test by felling the Reed even when it turned into the one he loves most. The Black Valet is the type of person we all need in our lives. One who would watch our backs and give us redemption when we are down and out.
It's pleasing know that the Prince Of The Seven Golden Cows was avenged of all his false friends by his heir, the Black Valet. I feel all those untrue friends deserved even worse punishment.

Living to 90 is no ordinary feat. Long life is a blessing and should be celebrated and I hope you and your family celebrated happily. Your family is quite the big and happy family. Also I think Kati is right, you should smile more. I have often heard people say I always wear a frown but it's just how my face appears. But since then I try to smile more. A smile makes you appear friendly and inviting to people.

The Black Valet heeded instructions from his Master always, he obeyed to the letter. I'm so proud of him, anyone would.
The reed almost confused him when it turned into his dead mistress but he still struck without fear because The Prince of the seven golden cows asked him to.
The Prince died but he left behind a worthy son in the person of The Black Valet to mourn him and to succeed him.
The length to which the Black Valet went to see that his Master rested in peace is really extraordinary.
Wow! Katie's Mom is really living Life to the fullest, all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives came to celebrate with her. It was a grand affair and I wish her more years to celebrate in this manner.

Oh no! I am not happy that the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows died. Well, at least he left the black valet with so much richness. It was a good thing he followed every instruction though he almost lost it when the reed turned into his dead mistress. I will say this again, that the black valet is a good man because he took it upon himself to honour the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows even in his death. This has an important lesson, it is good to be good. It is the goodness of the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows that is still following him even in his death.
Wow! This was a huge celebration, it is also like a family gathering because it brought almost every member together. Mama must be blessed with lovely people. Happy birthday to her once again. Lol! Kati was right in that photo after all, I can't see your smile as well😅.
This kind of loyalty is rare. The Black Valet has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he's not just a worthy servant but also a worthy 'son'. The Prince of the seven golden cows couldn't have asked for a better servant.
I love the way he tricked those fake friends and the poor so as to get revenge on them for the way they treated his Master.
Even after becoming Rich, the Black Valet didn't value it rather he gave it away for prayers for the repose of his beloved Master. Such loyalty is not of this world.
I'm so happy that the family has gathered together, from far and wide, to celebrate this milestone. 90 is no joke at all and I can see that her faculties are still very much intact.

I was very impressed with the ways in which the reed was transformed, it made him into the most vulnerable things, but in the end he was not fooled. sometimes I think of those stories of how that could be true.

The Prince Of The Seven Golden Cows was so happy with what the Black Valet did for him, even for the fact that he chased the Black Valet out of his house, and still yet the Black Valet was still there for him when he needed help, so he decided to teach the Black Valet how to make money before he died and which he did. This now made the Black Valet the richest man after The Prince Of The Seven Golden Cows died.
The Black Valet later went back to the village where his master had gone broke and avenged.
The celebration of Kati's mother at 90th was indeed a great one, families came from different places to celebrate with her. I know You guys actually had a lot of fun.
What an intriguing story!
It seems that the Black Valet faithfully followed the instructions of the Prince of the Seven Golden Cows and, thanks to that, managed to obtain riches.
But what is most admirable is that even after the Prince's death, the Valet did not forget his loyalty and made sure to avenge him and have people pray for him.
It is wonderful to see such dedication and honor in the characters of this story.

It must really be a horrible scenario when it changes to serpent. This kind of make me remember the scenario that transpire between Moses and the sorcerers at the Egypt in front of Pharaoh. I was thinking seeing it changes to a new born baby, there will be some emotions that will be moved, but it seems not to be so, it was also struck, that must have been terrible, so terrible to do. Thank God he didn't fall for the trap of the little girl appearance that he eventually struck it according to the commandments of the Prince of the seven cows. That's very good of him though.
