There was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture depicting peace. Many artists came to join the competition and win the prize, and all of them tried to depict the peace in their painting. The king looked at all paintings, but only choose two paintings for the final selection.
One of the paintings was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror of peace, having towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw that painting thought that this is a perfect epitome of peace and it will definitely win the prize.

The other painting had mountains, too, but the mountains are painted in a rugged way and were looking bare. The sky in that painting was looking angry, from which rain was falling, and the clouds were lightening also. At one side of the painting, down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This painting was not at all looking peaceful . However, when the king looked more closely in the painting, then he saw that there was a little tiny bush growing near the crack, near the waterfall. A mother bird built a beautiful nest in that crack, and was feeding her chicks, in perfect peace, while not bothering about the hustles and bustles of nearby environment. So can you guess which painting did the King choose?
The King chose the second picture. You know why? because peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. This is the real meaning of peace. So, whenever you go through the hustles and bustles of your life, then don't give up and look for the peace of your inner self.
