And for this weeks #SublimeSunday it is definitely Sunshine after the rain - with a particularly sunny weekend after the storms of last week. A brief respite though as Winter is surely getting closer - the nights are very cold despite the sun.

Another busy week roasting coffee, with one of two big orders needing shipping next week it has been a flat out run to roast all the coffee needed. And of course when you roast a lot of coffee, you empty a lot of coffee sacks.

So we do generate a vast amount of empty Hessian coffee sacks, which do not go to waste - I have a healthy trade in used sacks selling them through the website and ebay.

There seems to be a wide range of uses from storing potatoes, kraft ideas like cushions, small bags, decorative displays and apparently they are a good fuel source alternative for burners.

This weekend however I have been mostly putting together a new double bed for my 15 year old boy - and yes he has bought himself a Christmas tree and put it up already. So he wanted a bed with storage areas around it, and the amount of pieces it came in is unreal - all that lot is bits of bed! And screws, plus more of those twist clamp things that flat pack furniture loves then you have ever seen before - ever.

Helpfully he decided to stay at his friends house while I built up this eighty piece Jigsaw, and a lack of space made it quite a challenge seeing as to the right there is a single bed bunk bed with desk - which is being removed but only when the new desk arrives.

So that gives you and idea, but of course it should be on the right wall - which it will be when I dismantle the bunk bed and desk. There is still a central draw to build, a draw that pulls out of the headboard box, storage boxes either side of the draws and a storage unit that fits at the front of the bed. Maybe next week I will have it all done. Oh and yes the instructions did say do not use a battery screwdriver - like I am really going to manually screw in 100's of screws.

And yes I am still taking photos of Disney cars - cars. Hopefully I will sell a few to help pay for the new bed and desk.

So far I have managed to get rid of two so far, so it is not exactly a brisk trade but they are kind of niche toy.

So never a dull moment really, anyway that's about all I have left for #SublimeSunday after all the bed construction - all photo's are my own, and nobody not even AI could come up with this sort of rubbish writing!

Sort:

I’m sure those bags go quick, I know I could use a few myself. Looks like a lot of fun to build, I’m sure that he’s very happy. Sell those cars brother…. Great time of year to do it with the holidays coming.

Someone will have spare sacks round your way, for coffee roasters it is something you always generate a load of. I am doing my best to keep creating listings, I have so many of the boys old toys to clear out - the less valuable have been passed on to neighbours kids - I don't like wasting anything.

The meat is beautiful and difficult to put together. Happy Sunday.

I am guess you meant bed - but thank you anyway.

Nice build! I bet those sadcksd wud make great cover for plants.. the biggest thing I built was one of those cable home gyms. it took me 3 days!

:P

That's actually a very good point, my dad has planted potatoes he wants to protect from frost - we never thought of coffee sacks! Well the bed said it would take 2 people 180 minutes - there was only me and it took 5 hours to not even fully complete it - although it would have been quicker if I had enough space to make the bits of it up.

It's good to hear that the coffee sacks get re-used. We have so much waste packaging around generally.

I've built my share of furniture. Son had a 'cabin' bed that made me swear a bit. That got passed on when he outgrew it. Power screwdrivers are wonderful things. You just need all the right bits.

There is always someone needing coffee sacks it seems, so we always manage to pass them on somewhere instead of them being thrown away. I think the instruction makers presume the person making it can not work out which things need a manual screwdriver - obviously the round clamps which grab a bolt you screwed into the other part and then pushed through so it just shows in the circular hole - need a manual screwdriver. I am not however screwing in manually 6cm long self tapping screws - aside from time it's good way to get a repetitive strain injury.

I've had blisters from using a screwdriver. I'm happy to avoid that.

Maybe you should have made him stay and help... 😉
What a monstrosity! And to say, "no battery screwdriver' is insane! 😟

Hi, sorry!

Do you like coffee? I live in the Gayo Mountains, Takengon, Central Aceh. Here, we have quality Arabica and Robusta coffee.

If you're interested, we'd love to welcome you here.
