Summer Showers
Warm yellow face drew me up from the rivers, lakes and seas, invisible vapour rising, beckoning a journey floating upward ever abounding.
Slowly on gentle breeze, my formation took an identity of a fluffy white cloud, tumbling along over horizon where eagerly awaiting life gazed up in anticipation.
Looking upward for my droplets to quench the thirst on the dry parched earth below.
Aloe maculata
Bringing hope, circling the heavens turning darker inner turmoil, colliding in tormented anger a tight cluster, rubbing together growing with momentum, thunder bolts blazing lightning a ground to sky discussion, we must release soon....
Aloe somaliensis bud
Wind awakened brewing us up into a frenzy, releasing in a deluge, battering drops all the way down from whence we came, washing all growth reaching for the sun, making shy little flowers close up.
Yes I am the droplet that came hurtling down to hit you, refresh you, remind you that without me you will not survive.
So ends my musing....
In a different scene, context changes in the following poem:
Edward Thomas’s poem ‘Rain’ was written in 1916, while Thomas was fighting in the trenches.
Rain, midnight rain, nothing but the wild rain
On this bleak hut, and solitude, and me
Remembering again that I shall die
And neither hear the rain nor give it thanks
For washing me cleaner than I have been
Since I was born into this solitude.
Blessed are the dead that the rain rains upon:
But here I pray that none whom once I loved
Is dying to-night or lying still awake
Solitary, listening to the rain,
Either in pain or thus in sympathy
Helpless among the living and the dead,
Like a cold water among broken reeds,
Myriads of broken reeds all still and stiff,
Like me who have no love which this wild rain
Has not dissolved except the love of death,
If love it be towards what is perfect and
Cannot, the tempest tells me, disappoint.

Great photos and I like the poetic side of your post too, Joan :)
We had rain over the weekend, blissful beautiful wet weather to cool us down.
My mind took me down a path of memories, days I used to jot things down for fun.
Thanks for visiting and kind comment.
Great capture of the rain drops Joan. Thanks for sharing the lovely poem “Rain.”

Rain is so descriptive in so many ways, our harsh dry land the first sign of rain brings joy, yet in different circumstances a very different story. Thanks for visiting and tip.
