Weekend Experiences - Almost Downtime

Copy of sublimesunday.png

I am again late for #WeekendExperiences by @galenkp after a solid weekend of fun. This week's contest is over as of early this morning but the post can be found at https://hive.blog/hive-168869/@galenkp/weekend-engagement-topics-week-2856 I also love #SublimeSunday (inspired by @c0ff33a) and #BeautifulSunday (initiated by @ace108) with no time limits and are equally as fun to follow.

This weekend, I am enjoying a slower weekend between a couple big ones headed full speed toward the holidays.

First things first! The Prompt!

IMG_6786.JPG

Do you ever read about what other Hive users have or are doing and feel envious? Explain.

I do enjoy the prompt as I find there is usually one that stands out for me. This one reminded me immediately of my long time friend @solominer. I remember following his adventure years ago when he first started building his homestead and marveling at how many large projects he tackled. Lessons learned and such neat real living off the land. Particularly interesting is the solar power generation and bitcoin mining which make this homestead blockchain enabled! I would envy is not the right word as I am more happy for him and inspired by the adventure but there you have it.

Now Back to the Weekend

IMG_7390.JPG

I will start with the out door action shot to show you it wasn't all indoor adventure. Also because everyone loves dogs and plenty of people on Hive enjoy the snow pictures. Before bringing him to potentially his favourite place on the planet, I had to move a driveway full of the white stuff as is my duty. A fresh can of gas and a snow blower made quick work of it.

There was a little local music this weekend too. A local artist ended off here north american album release tour back home at the always epic www.revival.house Callie McCullough played a stripped down acoustic set with all the majesty of a full orchestra.

Looking back on the recent Business Excellence awards. Hosted in the newest of theatres in town, this gala was a gathering of business owners from across the region for a ceremony that crowned the businesses of the year. We (www.towncriermarketing.ca) were nominated again this year in the Service category. Relieved not to have won and made the speech and happy to hang in a cool place with the movers and shakers.

Turns out that wasn't the only theatre to visit. I was dragged by my better half so see Annie at the largest Festival Theatre.

I often say I would rather golf a round than attend one of the world-class plays we have in town. Pretty neat production and some fine performances made this classic enjoyable for sure.

BEER!

IMG_7211.JPG

Of course there was beer! Weekends are perfect for skipping down the road and visiting a craft brewery for a tour and sampling.

IMG_7209.JPG

So many beers to sample and only so many weekends in a year!

IMG_7393.JPG

Back at home, my kegs are empty because of a crazy fall schedule which interfered with the brewing. We are back on track though and should have another NEIPA and Single Hop Pale Ale ready to do in a week. So, I am getting by on our light amber ale by the growler from the shop. Just over 4% abv but plenty of malt to make it tasty and substantial.

That is about it for a down weekend between an epic multi brewery tour and this upcoming weekend where I might be headed to Montreal for some fun! check in next weekend and find out!

How was your last weekend before December?

Sort:

Now that was a very busy weekend! I'm heading to the teather with the little kid in a few weeks, first time with him, fingers crossed

This weekend's adventure will be much busier and I hope the little one is in awe of the theatre!

But it was a fantastic weekend! So many great activities!
By the way, congratulations on the award nomination. Even though you didn't win, being nominated is still something to be congratulated about.
Speaking of beer, one question: how long does it take you to make a good draft beer?

The brewing process is about 4 hours and then normal beers ferment about 10 days before being ready to keg and pour. IPAs take a little longer (between 2 and 3 weeks) as there is more alcohol to be produced from the sugars but you get the idea!

CHEERS to the !BEER

Hey @roswelborges, here is a little bit of BEER from @zekepickleman for you. Enjoy it!

We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .

My last weekend was great; I had a good time because I was with my wife. Last night, my favorite team had a game, and it ended in a draw. I wish we could have won; that would have made us very happy. @solominer's life is also admirable to me. He built a self-sufficient farm and has now started mining BTC. I know he will make more modifications. He'll turn his farm into a fortress :)

After Hive reaches $10 and we have our global pub crawl, then the apocalypse hits (stick with me here on this tale) then maybe we can arrive at his place and offer to help out and live there!

Exactly man! We have everything we need there! 10 dollars Hive could fulfill many dreams for Hivers XD
