One of the things I feel like we don't do enough here is gamifying activities and in turn support. While there are things like hivebuzz it feels a bit generalized around your hive milestones rather than the person to person contact and appreciation. On top of that it does very little for communities on Hive.
A big reason I sketched out the profile pics of users on scrobble.life is to draw a bigger focus towards them. I feel like most front-ends kind of minimize them way too much which may make us look at colors/patterns rather than actually look at the images being used, thus not much attention is paid towards them.
While I realize that scrobble.life's color themes are a bit all over the place currently, those things can easily be improved later as we're building out more things for the site. Primarily focusing on things that don't exist on other places while at the same time offering something that can be used on other front-ends as well.
I'll be going through some of the ideas and implementations I'm working on. I know it may sound strange to come to you with a "pre-announcement" during the times of AI when things can be created so quick, however, I feel like getting feedback from the community as early as possible is important to see what people really like and find important in their daily social experience.
Subscriptions for Hive
Now I know some people may have experimented with this, but I wanna experiment some more and see if we can make it less predatory and more focused towards consumers and creators.
We have recurring payments with 0 fees that very few take advantage of, while there's platforms handling billions of dollars of revenue from donations/subscriptions/support such as patreon.
We understand time's are tough and "crypto is down", but a sign of support doesn't have to be costly and you don't need to try and support everyone, you can focus on the few you really connect with on Hive and would like to show your appreciation. Voting/curation isn't the same as subscribing to an author you wanna support.
At the same time however, there's been very little experimentation in gamifying this experience on Hive, thus I dug deep into my ideas from the past to try and bring them to life with Hive Subs.
Consumer & Creator Subs
One way to subscribe will be the connection between a consumer of posts and the creator. Subscribing for $2/month in Hive/HBD/tokens gets you subscription perks that set you apart from other users engaging in the posts of the author.
In collaboration with decentmemes.com, we will be offering a space for creators to create a lot of different perks for their consumers such as: custom emoji's, custom stickers, as well custom meme & gif templates.
This means that consumers who wanna use these custom artworks will have to be subscribed to the creator they're supporting. Only active subscriptions allow you to access the creators templates. To "make sure" these consumers are actually supporting the creator, they'll also be getting custom borders around t heir profile pictures when commenting under the author's posts.
To give you an example, this is what my pfp looks like right now on scrobble.life:

Everything could be custom made from every creator, with the age of AI image generation is easier and cheaper than ever, so all content creators would have a place to import and save their custom profile pic borders, banners:
Gamifying donations/tips
Something that's common in the streaming world is consumers donating through subscriptions to creators. Since we use a public blockchain, this could easily be gamified in a way where we target active consumers and chatters if someone is to donate more subscriptions to them they may find themselves coming back to a post to see that they have extra perks this time around when leaving engagement.
Collectibles
Cosmetic Collectibles with weighted rarity for subscribers/donations that you can proudly display on your banner or next to your profile picture when engaging with your favorite authors you are supporting.
Collectibles based on activity, not everything has to be based on your support of the author with monetary donations. Rank up your relationship with the author based on mutual engagement and curation.
Communities
There's very little ways to support communities these days other than delegating to them or upvoting the people who work on moderating and curating the community. Communities can create their own custom badges/banners/emojis/stickers/gif/meme templates with their own subscription model.
There's also no project currently tracking community oriented stats, i.e. how many comments have you left on unique authors in a community, how many votes have you cast in a community, posts, etc. Tying this to a subscription support model makes sense as well as utilizing public blockchain transactions to track who your most active users are who've been around for longer.
What's unique about this
No focus on the reward pool usage, this is mostly p2p from voluntary subscriptions and donations, a new way to provide creator income on top of the rewards pool.
To avoid/prevent abuse, small fees can be added which burn Hive rather than going to the service provider when subscribing or when creators import their artwork to use.
This is meant to work as a protocol rather than walled garden. Subscriptions will exist as simple recurring payments/transfers with documented memos. Images/artwork uploaded to hive storage providers so other front-ends can easily index and replicate the system if they want to adapt it.
Dapps/Services can participate as well with their own unique niche of banners/borders/emojis/gifs/memes/collectibles so you can wear the ones you represent and use across all platforms.
Anyway, it's not fully built yet but wanted to share this with you to hear your thoughts. I know timing may not be perfect but I figured it could help connect people in different ways that have not been possible before.
I love the idea of gamifying interaction. In fact, that's the very thing that made this blockchain so special (using the token for upvotes, etc). So thank you for jumping on this idea and taking it to the next level. As for the timing, I don't think it could be any better. After all, isn't the bear season, when prices are low, the best time to build things?
Wow, haha, this feels like a mix of Medium and Reddit etc., lol. I like that communities are being recognised rather than just rewards and the cosmetics could make engagement feel a bit more colourful and also fun and might even attract more visual people.
For content creators though, think the content itself is what matters most, and some people will always be happy just typing away on a plain looking page. BUT this one you have got here is something Hive is also missing, and this idea seems to be filling that gap.
The only concern I can see is that it might feel a bit “paywalled” in practice in terms of visibility and recognition especially for new users and pssibly could make some people feel left out socially, that’s probably the main downside I notice. Great job. 👍

Gamifying interaction is awesome.
I like the subscription idea, especially gamified. It could even act as a catalyst to bridge more real world things into HIVE since its a social blockchain at its core. I love interactivity between real humans, heck i even bought HIVE 3d etched dice 5 years ago and I've been working on a few front end ideas which bridges the idea of HIVE users interacting with some of my own personal real world devices, such as my GPU for inferencing or my 3D printer.
A maybe sub service which nets the subscribers little figurines from a 3d printer or allows the generation of music or art. (thanks for the vote btw!) Or even lets you send little 3d printed figurines to content creators you support, that might be interesting. I like your collectibles idea, I'm just wondering if it could be expanded beyond the digital realm....

I could 100% see myself doing something like this for my own artwork, having rewards like being able to get an art commission, being added as a character to the game I'm working on, or even some nfts here on hive. Which I only recently found out wasn't that hard to do.

you are into something here because I think the first front ends turn users into earners and not customers, this is why Im of the idea that scrobble can work as long as it doesnt advertise as a place where you can earn initially rather just attract regular none crypto users who can become customers of Scrobble content and services, content that authors create, its a psychology thing imo, plus scrobble already has a niche connection to its users that is music, movies and tv series and not crypto related, for starters I might take what already works irl, smash IMDB + RTT + LETTERBOX + TRAKT + REDDIT into a user friendly platform, get ppl into short content not long form, let long form initially for we all HIVE addicts but new users guide them into rating, commenting.... btw when "bucket list" feature, the type of oh let me add this to watch latter ....so yeah I think the patreon like thing has not work yet that much because most users on HIVE are here to earn thats the truth until you start enjoying using HIVE for other motives and earning becomes secundary but thats a very small group, idk thas my uneducated best guess / suggestion

It's a good idea but I think to start it we need more creators, like we would need to bring popular creators attracting with low to no fees, transparency, etc... As of now it risks to be a feature underused... Need to onboard some creators from patreon, but it's a broader discussion
You are right Hive has only around 2000 weekly active authors or creators and the numbers are going down...
That is the biggest problem for the social chain like Hive...

I like that this new front end that you have created is visually interesting. This might attract a certain niche demographic, but in the case of Hive even getting a good chunk of any mainstream niche demographic would be big.
