Yeah the Instagram app is useless for that. I was frustrated too until a friend showed me a simple site where you can check https://booksummaryclub.com/think-theyre-hiding-something-on-instagram-read-this-first/ in the actual order they followed. You just type in any username, no login needed, and it pulls up a clean list from newest to oldest. Takes maybe five seconds. I use it for my own account to see who just followed me and also for other public profiles. No more guessing if that person followed today or last year. Way better than scrolling through that random mess Instagram gives you. Honestly do not know why Instagram does not just add this themselves but at least there is a workaround.
