If your degree doesn't equip you with a skill then the paper or certification is useless.
In this world there is alot of problems that requires people with skill to solve not people with certification and no skill.
Skill are of diverse kinds: intellectual property is a skill, motivational speaking is a skill, writing of all such is a skill if it solve a problem.etc
You need to add the caveat: "unless you go into government work."
