in #succulents6 years ago (edited)

Happy and blessed afternoon to all my friends who love nature and especially the cactus and succulents of this great community of #steemit today I want to show you a little of the process of reproduction of one of the species of succulents that I have in my garden means of cuttings or rather its leaves, this is usually the easiest process and also the slowest that you have to reproduce this species of plant, although it is a bit delayed it is really beautiful to see how little by little a new plant grows in each leaf that we started from the mother seedling.

This is the mother plant we can note how healthy and rigorous it is, with firm and rigid stem, it is essential to take a good plant at the time of applying this technique, although it is true that they reproduce easily if we take a very small plant the children they will be tiny, which is why we recommend a plant with well-formed branches of an appropriate size.

To start the process it is recommended to start the daughter horizontally so that there is no wrong fracture of the branch and there are wounds that we do not want to happen, we must avoid remaining traces of the stem on the leaf.

Once this first step is done, it is ideal to leave the leaves in shadow for at least a couple of days. This will depend on the climate in which you live. What do we achieve when we carry out this procedure? We achieve that the area of the cut will dry a little and heal, because if we place it directly on a moist substrate it will absorb too much moisture before starting the reproduction cycle and it may not evolve in the right way, I personally leave it to two three days under shade that only receives the glare of the sun.

After spent those days of rest, we put the leaves on a slightly damp substrate and place them directly to receive a lot of sunlight, in my case I have them placed on a balcony and there they receive all the light they need, after a few weeks we will see our little sprouts appear.

This method of reproduction is usually a little slow, the plant shown has exactly one month of being cut and the results have been very satisfactory, as in the area where I live a lot of sun I usually spray water with a frequency of two days a week .
