Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind - Yuval Noah Harari
Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell
The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable - Nassim Taleb
All of the above (except may the first), have that sort of universal appeal and have completely changed my outlook. At least a few of them will make an appearance on any recommended reading list worth its salt.
I have no doubt that they will have the same impression on any reader.
