Chasing Sunset at Rower’s Bay Park

in #sunset7 hours ago

Since I was not successful with my sunset visit to Sembawang Park yesterday, I decided to try my luck again, this time in the Seletar area. My destination was Rower’s Bay Park, and I wanted to find out if its sunset scene was something truly worth cycling for.

So I took my bicycle and made my way there, which took me at least an hour of cycling. Thankfully, the ride itself was already a good experience.

The park connectors leading to Rower’s Bay Park are actually quite good, and I have to say the government has done well in improving the paths going there. The route felt smooth and comfortable, and since I was cycling in the late afternoon instead of midday, the whole journey was much more enjoyable.

That is one thing I am starting to realize more and more. I think I now prefer cycling from late afternoon until nighttime. The weather is not as warm, I do not get too tired too quickly, and I definitely do not feel as dehydrated compared to cycling under the noon sun. It just feels easier on the body, while still giving the same sense of adventure. In fact, the softer light and calmer atmosphere in the late afternoon make the journey feel even more rewarding.

As soon as I reached Rower’s Bay Park, I noticed that there were only a few visitors around. Most of them were just walking or jogging. I did not see many cyclists that evening, which actually added to the peaceful vibe of the place. It was quiet in a very comforting way, not empty, but calm enough to make you slow down and appreciate your surroundings.

The first thing I did was head straight to the banks of the bay to take photos and videos. I already posted the videos on my TikTok page, so the photos are the ones I want to share here. I was really drawn to the mood of the place, and even before the sky fully changed colors, I could already tell it was going to be one of those visits that felt special.

It was a bit cloudy that late afternoon, and honestly, I was worried that it might rain. Luckily, the weather held up. The banks of the bay were filled with large rocks, which made it a little tricky to move around. It was not the easiest place to navigate, especially while trying to look for good angles for photography. But once I managed to get closer to the water, I immediately felt the serenity of the bay.

That calmness alone made me feel that I had made the right decision to visit this spot.

There was something very peaceful about the still water, the quiet sky, and the soft dimming of the day. There was not much breeze, but there was just enough wind to make the place feel fresh and alive. It was one of those quiet evenings where you do not really need anything dramatic to enjoy the view. The atmosphere itself was enough.

From where I stood, I could also see many cars moving along the nearby bridge. It gave me that familiar reminder that while I was standing there enjoying the calmness of the bay, many people were already making their way home after a long day. I always find that contrast interesting. On one side, there is the rush of everyday life, and on the other, there is this quiet pocket of nature where time seems to move more slowly.

As the evening went on, the sky slowly darkened, but a hint of orange remained in the clouds. That soft orange hue against the grey and blue background made the whole scene more interesting in photos. It was not the fiery, dramatic sunset that some people might hope for, but it had its own quiet beauty. In fact, I think that subtlety made it feel even more memorable.

I am really glad the weather did not turn bad that day. The experience turned out to be amazing, and now I feel even more excited for the next weekend. This little sunset chase reminded me again that there are still many corners of Singapore worth exploring, especially when seen from the seat of a bicycle.

See you on my next cycling adventure!
