Today I missed the sun with the whole storm that was over Germany. Luckily we had real sunshine a few days ago, which we also enjoyed.
I'll come back with a post about Dresden. You can see that I like Dresden. We were also on the other Elbe shore. With other shore I refer to the shore opposed to the one of the old town.
We were up to the Lingnerschloss. As a fun fact Lingnerschloss was built on sand. The castle was formerly called Villa Stockhausen because it was built on behalf of Albrecht of Prussia (brother of Wilhelm I) for the Baron von Stockhausen.

The whole complex was built between 1850-1853. The Baron could not enjoy the castle because he died in the year of completion. His family lived there until 1891, where the industrialist Bruno Naumann acquired the castle. In 1906 Karl August Lingner bought the property. He also gave the name of the castle. Karl August Lingner is known for inventing the "Odol" mouthwash.
Lingner died in 1916 and dedicated in his will the castle to the city of Dresden with two conditions. Everyone can enter the park and castle without paying for it, and the castle will open a cafe or restaurant with the lowest prices in the area.
But there came the Second World War and communism and the castle housed Soviet troops in the beginning. From 1957 to 1993 here was the "Dresdner club".
The in 2002 founded the Förderverein Lingnerschloss e. V., made it possible to restore the castle and to use it again for the purpose that Karl August Lingner thought it would be, a collective use.
We were glad we came here and would recommend anyone to take their time to come here for at least half an hour and enjoy it.

Das ganze wurde zwischen 1850-1853 gebaut. Der Baron konnte sich des Schlosses nicht erfreuen weil er starb im Jahr der Vollendung. Seine Familie wohnte dort bis 1891 wo der Industrielle Bruno Naumann das Schloss erwarb. Im Jahr 1906 kaufte Karl August Lingner das Anwesen. Er gab auch den Namen des Schlosses. Karl August Lingner ist bekannt für die Erfindung des Mundwassers "Odol".
Lingner starb in 1916 und widmete in seinem Testament den Schloss der Stadt Dresden mit zwei Bedingungen. Park und Schloss kann jeder betreten und ansehen ohne etwas dafür zu zahlen und im Schloss soll ein Cafe oder Restaurant mit den kleinsten Preisen in der Gegend eröffnet werden.

Yes... From all indications you indeed like your beloved Dresden. I personally like the story about Lingner dedicating the castle to the city of Dresden upon his death. What a philanthropic act! I'm particularly happy that the building has been reclaimed and used for the purpose of the selfless man that gave it to the city. The people of Dresden should be grateful. Hallo Alex. wie immer ist es einfach schön in deinen Beiträge zu lesen. Sie gleichen immer wie eine Kunstbeschreibung aus einer dieser Hochglanz Zeitungen. Diese hatte ich meist im Flugzeug gelesen, als ich noch aktiv als Service Techniker die Welt bereist habe. Aber genau das zeichnet solche Beiträge aus. Informativ gespickt mit schönen Worten. Das ist ein Garant dafür, dass man Lust bekommt zu Reisen. Tolle Arbeit die ich heute sehr gern an meiner Wall sehen möchte. Liebe Grüße Markus

Das Lingnerschloss gehört mit Sicherheit auf meine Liste der zu besuchenden Orte.
Vielleicht klappt es ja dieses Jahr an Pfingsten nach Dresden zu reisen, zwei Anläufe hatten wir schon, jedesmal hat das Wetter uns nach Süden gescheucht.
Die Gegend um Dresden ist wunderschön, Dresden ist wieder sehr schön geworden. Ich bin in dieser Gegend aufgewachsen und immer wenn ich wieder nach Dresden komme freue ich mich, wie sich die Stadt positiv verändert.
