Hello Hivers!
Long time readers of my blog will know the name, not just the name but the legacy behind it. Dan Villopoto was the man who fathered and nurtured Ryan Villopoto, pretty sure most fans of the sport know that name.
If you don't then let me put it very simply... On a 250 MX bike he was simply unstoppable and easily the fastest rider on the lites machine. He proved this when he started his pro career by taking his first three years lites mx titles back to back. Topping that off with a SX lite titles he then set his signts on Supercross and won a record setting four consecutive titles!
Dan Villopoto sacrificed everything to give his son and family the future they dreamed of, if you have not checked out my memorial post then you can check it out here.
Back to the present day, can you belive he passed away in 2018... man where does the time go? In honour of his father the Villopotos organised a friends and family event and we can get to hear some amazing memories of a man who left a big gap in Motocross/Supercross when he left.
