#STEEMGIGS: (TIL(Today I Learned)) — Don't hoard knowledge

in #surpassinggoogle6 years ago (edited)

Today, the quest for recognition and respect has caused may people to do unthinkable things. Many people want to be the boss. They desire that everyone will stand when their names are mentioned. To achieve this, such persons try to hoard the little thing they've known.

Scenarios are:

A person has been into a profitable business, instead of mentoring a younger person in the business line, he seeks to do all alone so as to remain the "king-kong".

A father has a skilling, he s not conscious of bringing in his son to the scene, soon, he gets old and dies, and his empire gets wasted because no one learnt the modes-operands of the outfit.

A company employ an expert, instead of creating a platform for training of other staff, they allow a monopoly on one, someday when ergo strikes, the work tends to suffer.

No one has ever been the origin of knowledge. No one holds the monopoly of words. This is why no presentation with letters and words can be 100% plagiarism free. We all learnt a word or two from another author's work.

Sadly, today, we have people who have learnt a very little from others, yet, they became so mean, illiberal, ungenerous and so frugal with the little they knew. They are experts in hoarding knowledge. They want to hold monopoly so they would be esteemed.

What I Learnt Today

During my morning devotion today #dailyguide 30th April, 2018 posted by @scripture-union, Jesus Christ was seen rebuking the Pharisees for hoarding knowledge. In his words in Luke 11: 52, he said:

Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.

Yes, when you try to work alone, there are limitations to the exploitation of the rich value of that resource you tend to hold monopoly of. This is because, we have different exposures to life, different challenges and environment and this makes us think differently.

In a situation other people are given opportunity to contribute to your work, there will be spices of diversity which could spark innovation.

You can work better as a team.

You can earn better as a team.

You can market your product and services as a team.

Do you ever wonder why steemit succeeds the ways it does? Users are brought together to work as a team and community. Every user has been given the key to influence and impact in the platform and this is the reason for the unprecedented growth in the system.

PS: I charge you therefore this morning to ensure that you teach that young person how to learn your skilling. Impact a life by transferring your life, what you know so the web of growth can continue.

Thanks to @surpassing who did not hoard his knowledge. He opened up the ideas of @steemgigs and @steem-untalented. Today he is glad that many steemit users are taking advantage of the system and his (@surpassinggoogle) worth is increasing.

If you must grow, you must empower others.

Like I said in my Steemit workaholic post 1 and Steemit workaholic post 2:

Go out of your convenience and be a blessing to someone by helping that less-privileged person around you to have access to a skill. You may not spend so much money, yet, the results may outlive generations. Help to empower someone in your locality and posterity will not forget you.

THIS WEEK, I WILL BE OFFERING TUTORIALS ON THE VALUES OF STEEMIT

This tutorial will be dedicated to teach newbies on the steemit platform what steemit stand for. The values that must be imbibed by every user of the platform. The tutorial will be smartly weaved with my success/failure stories to help the readers learn well. I hope the tutorials will spark greatness in all readers. You can see other helpful posts here which I have used personally to my benefit to grow on this platform:

What most people don't know is that we could all get better as a team. Team work pays. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Sometimes, I tend to wonder why people hoard information in the first place. Someone transferred that knowledge to you either through training or studying. So you don't have any reason or whatsoever to hoard it. Hoarding it doesn't make you any better, it doesn't expand the knowledge either. Hoarding it only makes you dormant cause by sharing this knowledge with other people, you get to know better, you get to understand better. New ideas and contributions comes and you grow as a result.

Information constructs our life. Don't hold on to it alone. Share what you know with others .

Thank you @liltom

hoarding information does not make anybody better.

To me, hoarding information will only result in limiting the value of the information to the hoarder's knowledge sphere of influence. Wnen others contribute, the sphere radius increases.

Exactly. When you share information, there's room for greater understanding. The more a teacher teachs, the more it gets clearer to him or her

@uyobong I see in this post a ladder to success. This post makes me to remember that we all stood on the shoulders of others to see the future. As such, no one can categorically say that that they are independent. Hoarding knowledge will be the height of ingratitude and ungratefulness. Thanks to @surpassinggoogle for always opening up his treasure bank for others to drink for. I am blessed.

@evegrace, knowledge sharing is a ladder to success. Climb it today and you'll see the height you get to in no time. Let @surpassinggoogle be your example

I couldn't agree more. We learn more in teaching others. We gain more in giving.

This x-ray of the lessons you learnt from your devotional is indeed amazing @uyobong. I see why MLMs grow faster. Everyone is tasked to introduce the business model to other persons to help spread the reach then the reward pool is shared across board. Am encouraged and will definitely share knowledge with somebody today.

@surpassinggoogle says

Everyone has something to offer.

I have something to offer and will sure do it today even on the @steemgigs category

Thank you @steemitanalyst for always coming around. Our values will grow larger when we deposit the little knowledge in us on others.

@surpassinggoogle, I am grateful that you found my post worthy of your reblog. I am encouraged to put more effort in being a blessing to humanity. I will soon quit my job to give steemit 8 hours of my day.

hope to see @steemit become a household name in homes even if just one IT gadget is found. You ( @surpassinggoogle ) will surpass google and everyone shall come to the realization of how good and blessed it is open the treasures of our knowledge bank to have others drink from it.

To all newbies, keeping being your best, your efforts will be noticed soonest.

WE ALL HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER THAT OTHERS CAN BENEFIT FROM

We should share our knowledge, even how little it is, as long as you that it can help other. Why hoarding? Let everyone knew what you have learned and let everyone experience what you have experience. Share what you've learned. Thank you for sharing @uyobong this eyeopener article. Great job.

nice post.... please vote me

This is a great lesson to everyone. Hoarding knowledge is one thing that works against progress. People don't want someone else to know what the know...crazy way of thinking...am bless with this..nice

Sure @petercheng. Its indeed a "crazy way of thinking". Thank you for coming around
