Easily storing fuel for a rainy day or emergency.

Hey steemit!

Are you sick of rescuing your friends when they run out of fuel? Maybe you want to buy gas at a lower price to store and avoid peak season? Maybe you just like to feel secure and lower your dependence on "just in time" delivery? Well, this post may help a bit.

I just wanted to drop a quick note about the logistics of storing a little bit of good fuel. You can't be too prepared, and the finite lifespan of gasoline requires some special considerations.

The easiest thing I have found is to purchase the NATO metal Jerry cans and fill them with clear, or non-ethanol gasoline. These cans are tightly sealed and will not spill on the trip home. They are a handy size and can be stored about anywhere! http://a.co/a89VRze (Note: These cans may not be compliant with all fuel storage regulations, so check your local laws. If they are regulated where you live, you can still get them because they store regular water just as well! )

Ethanol additives reduce the lifespan of gasoline because it is more prone to the effects of water. Go here to find clear gas near you: https://www.pure-gas.org/. This is not absolutely required, but extends the storage life.

Get some Stabil fuel treatment too! http://a.co/4UVSYM5

Once you have the ingredients, follow the directions on the Stabil bottle. This, along with the sealed containers will allow the fuel to store very well for over a year.

I recommend building up to 12 cans, for a total of 60 gallons of on-hand stabilized gasoline for your vehicles, lawn implements or even generators! Just keep your twelve cans filled and lined up along the garage wall, take one can every month and use it! Just remember to fill it up again as soon as possible and place it at the other end of the line of cans. This will make it super easy to keep track of how old the fuel is and automatically rotate the stock, keeping it nice and fresh.

After initial setup investment, If you stay on top of it you won't have to spend any more than usual out of your monthly gas budget!
