Good morning friends of HIVE!! Today I come to tell you about and show you my first poppy bloom. The truth is that it was a real surprise since I had never planted them in my garden. Then I found out that one day my mom had scattered some seeds from her plants and had forgotten to tell me.
Buenos días amigos de HIVE!! Hoy vengo para contarles y mostrarles mi primera floración de amapolas. La verdad que fué una verdadera sorpresa ya que no nunca las había plantado en mi jardín. Luego descubrí que mi mamá un día había desparramado algunas semillitas de sus plantas y se había olvidado de decirme.
Luckily, I never removed the mysterious little plants that at first seemed like weeds.
One day my parents came to visit and congratulated me on how the poppy plants were growing and that's when I found out about them.
Por suerte, nunca quité las misteriosas plantitas que al principio me parecían malas hierbas.
Un día mis padres vinieron de visitas y me felicitaron por como estaban creciendo las plantas de amapola y es ahí que me enteré de ellas.
When I lived in Italy, I used to see poppies on the side of country roads but they were always red. I never would have imagined that there were other colors and shades. Nature, as if wanting to surprise me, made it so that a plant of each color grew in my garden.
Cuando vivía en Italia, solía ver amapolas al costado de los caminos de campo pero siempre fueron rojas. Nunca hubiera imaginado que existían otros colores y tonalidades. La naturaleza como para querer sorprenderme, hizo de manera que en mi jardín crecieran una planta de cada color.
I love to find out what I like and that is why I researched poppies discovering very interesting data such as that their petals and seeds have been used since ancient times to solve insomnia problems.
With its petals you can make expectorant and decongestant syrups, herbal teas, etc... They can be homemade and can also be obtained from a herbalist ready for consumption.
Its seeds are widely used in gastronomy to decorate various products such as bread.
Also, with great astonishment, I discovered something that I would never have imagined, and that is that opium is extracted from poppies, which is a very powerful drug. I never thought that certain drugs could be found in one's own home. Surely to obtain this substance there must be a very elaborate method and that is why having poppies at home is not illegal (I think).
A mí me encanta averiguar sobre lo que me gusta y es por eso que investigué sobre las amapolas descubriendo datos muy interesantes como por ejemplo que sus pétalos y semillas vienen usados desde la antigüedad para resolver problemas de insomnio.
Con sus pétalos se pueden hacer jarabes expectorantes y decongestionante, tisanas etc ... Pueden ser caseras y también se pueden conseguir en erboristeria ya listas para el consumo.
Sus semillas son muy utilizadas en gastronomía para decorar varios productos como por ejemplo panes.
También, con mucho asombro descubrí algo que nunca me hubiera imaginado, y es que de las amapolas se extrae el opio, que es una droga muy potente.Nunca pensé que ciertas drogas se pudieran encontrar en casa propia. Seguramente para obtener está sustancia debe haber un método muy elaborado y es por ésto que tener amapolas en casa no es ilegal (yo creo).
Unfortunately these beautiful flowers do not last more than a day or two. Then they lose their petals and form a capsule in which we will find their seeds.
In a capsule there are hundreds of tiny seeds. I collected them and kept them in a glass jar to plant again next year.
Lamentablemente estás hermosas flores no duran más de uno o dos días. Luego pierden sus pétalos y se forma como una cápsula en la cual encontraremos sus semillas.
En una cápsula hay centenares de semillas minúsculas. Las recogí y las guardé en un frasco de vidrio para volverlas a sembrar el año próximo.
