Yes I am still in Siem Reap and as such I want to write about it while my memory is fresh. As I have written in my earlier post there soany wonderful things about this tropical country Cambodia .I have yet to write about my trip to Angkor Wat as I am unable to find words that will best describe it with justice . Let me share the Khmer dining experience that follows instead after the temple visit.
Our tour guide took us to this restaurant called Sala Russey Restaurant .Per Google search Ita address is at Beantey Meanchey Sangkat Nokor Thom Sras. It was pricey but the ambiance was cozy and elegant
As expected it has a smallpond with lotus flowers similar to Ankor with its big river system.
Our group reserved the second floor which is an opeń air restaurant compared to much more. elegant air conditioned room first floor .See picture below:
So how does the place look like?Well you will have to climb up a wooden stairs .Two bowls of real lotus flower will give you an idea it wil be peaceful eating not the onea you find in most restaurant.
So what will you expect upstairs? Well you'd be greeted with cozy place that will make you miss the comforts if your home.
And the view you asked? Well expect the wind. to. blow your hair. The ambiance is very relaxing. When you look down you'll get the view of 2 other dining places that are non air-con.
What about the price? Since it's at the lakeside side of Angkor Wat expect it to be higher than the ones you find in the night market. I had mine for 7dollars and that includes the main meal, coffee and bowl if watermelon, mangoes and banana. The watermelon was okey, the banana looks gross. while the mangoes whereal not as sweet as Philippines. In my limited Khmer dining experience they always have lime with their dishes. How I wish we have those back home
For many days now I have been regretting getting sky roam. services at. 3000pesos because it's pretty. useless as it's intermittent signan while you're on a temple tour. Lesson learned there. See even this far flung restaurant has internet.
So what do I like about his place?One Ita artsy. Look at their wall paintings. From a distance it looks ordinary but look closer you'd be surprised.
Two, they very fast servers and polite too. .When I could not eat all and any it be take out they gladly obliged without making you feel. embarrassed. See. me grin ear to ear after out meal
Third the tropical themed restaurant is very clean everywhere.
Fourth, the food taste great and being customer friendly they even have hammocks you can sleep in after a sumptuous meal
So surely I was content. See me and my tour mates grin.Yes it's not as posh as that in Pub Street but it was an experience just the same. For seven dollars it was worth it.Before I forget their address is Benathey Meanchey Siem Province, Cambodia
