Review of Jugaadi Adda - There's more than meets the eye

Another one of those days when the cook goes missing and I am forced to go have breakfast outside. I had seen Judaagi Adda many times before, but never went as I always thought that it was some chain and I wanted to support the local vendors. However, today I happened to pay more attention and realised it's probably one of those vendors that have been able to grow to a proper place from a street stall.

The menu of the place screams of Mumbai fast food.

It was also used to decorate the walls of the place. This isn't a place where you'll ever have to ask or say - can i get a menu?
And one of the walls described the variety on the menu pretty well.

Located in an area full of corporate offices, the claim that their menu has more than anyone's CV is not only funny but also accurate - the dishes are simple but come in a lot of variations - Oriental, Italian, Indian vada pavs, and more snacks.

The food is prepared on the spot as it's mostly fried fast food, primarily vada pav, bhajia pav, bread pakoda and chillie pakoda. pakoda is simply using chickpea flour batter and deep frying. The food is lined up for display at the front to tempt customers to make an impulse buy and enjoy a quick snack.

I ordered a Bread Pakoda, as it's similar to french toasts that one gets served at kopitiams in hk and singapore. It is basically mashed potato sandwich deep fried after being dipped in chickpea flour batter.

What did I think of the place and the dish? I think firstly the name is pretty cool and aptly suited my need. Jugaad means a quick fix to any problem, and that's what I needed to address my breakfast needs. Indians love and live by Jugaad! And jugaadi adda is a place for a quick fix to your frequent hunger problem.

The service has to ve quick as it's fast food. The place is decorated well and the small entrepreneur had done well in my opinion.

The bread pakoda was also great in taste. The potato mash wasn't very spicy and the focus was on flavours. Chickpea flour batter added a nice flavour. Those who like vegan omelettes will know.

Lastly, no one can beat the price. It cost me 12 rupees. That is less than 1 steem.

Great place to eat breakfast or a quick snack, even more so if you don't like street vendors.
