In India also it's more or less the same, Teaching job is very much under valued and low paid job. In most of the rural areas they have an agreement even to teach absolutely without any pay and if they stick back only after few years they get a salary, which is so very sad. The job that should have the highest value is given the least priority.
But there is another part to it where the teaching profession at the international schools are highly paid and recognized.
I used to teach when I was doing my graduation and it was such a good feeling, but once I got a job I had to stop it due to time limitations.
